Bully dog is a rip off

I have a 2015 silverado 2500 6.0. I installed the gt gas using the performance 93 tune and towing tune (which is what was recommended when i first contaced them if i can run e85).  The truck feels more sluggish when towing compared to factory tune.  I run e85 all the time.  Is there a specific tune for e85 or is this tuner not compatable for e85?

Email response i got back from them was to they and use 85 octane. Why would they say that lol. Very unhappy with this programmer, i have seen no difference in power or performance.

No experience with them but with my old 08 2500 6.0 truck I did the diablo/lew tune. With the canned Diablo tune you install first I noticed no real change, the custom tune didn't feel like any more power but much better shifting. On my 2015 2500 6.0 truck I am doing a Black Bear tune, I just sent in my data log yesterday so waiting for the return tune so I can try it. From all my reading a canned tune for these gassers really doesn't equate to much, you need to get the custom tune from Diablew or Black Bear.

Ignition timing makes power.  With my 17 I see up to 30 degrees of advance wide open now with my base table and the adders.  30 is more than you technically require but with the low compression and L92s it works.  I am sure my gains diminished in the mid 20s somewhere but the truck feels good and doesnt have any knock retard on premium so that's where it stays.  A real tune is a substantial gain over stock if its done correctly.  Mine started as a tune i paid for from a guy but i have modified so much of it on my own now its mine lol.

And that's why you go custom tune.  Box tuners are worth MUCH less than the money you spend on them.  Try BlackBear Performance.  They are a sponsor here on the forum I believe.

Or, depending on where in NY you are, try Berg Racing in Webster.  Their tuner Rick is a madman and can wake up a 6.0 in his sleep, and safely as well (won't disable or alter any parameters that don't need changing that could cause engine damage).  He did the engine and trans in my brother's 14 Camaro SS after a well known LS shop did it (which ended up causing some tune issues on the trans side) and he made quite the difference over the first shop.

I run e85 primarily and carry 20 gallons of gas when towing. Usually gets me there and back and i have to fill up when i get home. Wanted the tuner for the rare cases when i have to gas up and cant get e85. But this proved useless. I know a custome tune is the best route, have a 2010 2ss/rs modded with a custome tune. Just didnt wanna be stuck to just 1 fuel type without getting a new tune. Will have to call my tuner and see what he thinks, also looking into super charging this motor, she def needs more power.

because these programmers are garbage. they don't do anything serious enough to get you anywhere, go get a custom tune done that's where youll really notice power.  Then get Torque Pro or watch dog to monitor everything.

I’ve been around long enough to have sampled all the can tunes even bully dog. Some like Diablosport you can do tuning if your talented enough. On stock engines they worked as advertised and I never had an issue with any of them.

Eh.... Diablo is just a canned tune where you change parameters that may or may not do what you interpret them too. They can write actual custom tunes like anyone else provided someone buys the software to do so.  EFIlive has the Autocal unit and Edge actually uses their top of the line Insight Pro unit to load HP tuners files.  If a person wants to play they should buy HP or EFIlive and at least then you know what parameters you are actually making changes too.

I agree, my point was when something does as advertised I wouldn’t call it junk. I never had a problem with can tunes.

Here's a secret... most "tuners" that do "custom" tunes just send you a canned tune they developed anyhow lol.  They use the datalog to confirm but on a GM truck with no wideband O2 for air fuel feedback it's as good as it gets lol.

You really should have gone with black bear..

I didnt go with them because i cant switch between gas octanes like i initially wanted too. Also they are also a canned tune without wideband input for a/f
