Remote start...heated seats

Am I being stupid? So in the settings, Remote start auto seat warmer is turned on. However when I remote start, the seats don't appear to be heating. No lights are on in the switches. On my 09 Silverado I could see them lit up.

Once I get in and start the truck, hit the button for them, they seem to turn on. Am I missing another step or something else thats obvious?

And before you ask, yes it's cold out. -10C/14F today.

well, yes, that's colder. But its still cold. Especially when you factor in the windchill.

I confirm. No heated seat lights on remote start but both my driver and passenger are warm to touch. Once I turn key then have to manually turn heated seat on.

My heated steering wheel won’t heat in remote start. Is always ice cold until I hit the button.

I don’t know how fast they heat so they might not be warm yet if you get in the truck soon after starting it.

My experience with this (I haven’t read anything in the manual that confirms it) is that the seats ARE heating but you won’t have any lights. Once you insert the key and turn it on, the seat heat shuts off and you have to turn them back on with the button if you want the seats to continue heating.

As long as I remote start and wait several minutes, the seats are definitely warm when I get in the truck.

Thanks folks. I do think they don't heat as well as my 09 silverado. Unsure if they have something wrong with them or just how they are.

Either way, good to know its just the light not on.

I do 2 cycles of remote start and the seats arent as warm as i think they should be so i think sitting on them gets them warmer faster vs not sitting on them.

Manual has good information on this topic.  It speaks about unoccupied seats and enabling this feature in your personalization menu (3-10 in my manual)

Heated seats are very weak on the 2014's on up. Barely feel any heat out of mine. Especially the bottom cushions. Also had to have both bottom ones replaced recently. Failed right after warranty ran out too. They are building these trucks as cheap as possible yet wanting over 50k for a new one. Sad times in the truck world.

@Roscopcoletrain Thanks for asking this, I was just headed here to ask the same.

@Ed S I see the opposite.  My seat warmers actually get pretty hot.

The remote start heated seats do not turn on and light up like they do when you put the key in and hit the button, they are designed to turn on but much more subtle just to break the chill.

On mine it doesn't matter, with remote start or with the regular key start and run. Not much heat at all felt out of them. Barely warm.

The seats on my Trail Boss get very warm, first vehicle  I've had with heated seats and I love them.
