Yup pretty much. And they said they cant reset my brake pad wear % because it will default back to 100% and I have 11k for miles on the truck.

They had no concern that my brakes stopped working. What a joke

My brakes went out at 4800 miles and it had no code but the dealership still fix it even though it didn't duplicate the problem it took a month to get it back and I am still terrified to drive it.  I now have 5400 on my 2019 chevy high country which my family refuses to ride in.

My dealer reset mine,  it does default to 100% but it didn't seem to bother them. Doesn't make any difference to me either as I have a 2020 on order.

This is horrifying.

....and someone's complete opinion without any hard facts to back it up.

How are people completely losing their brakes an opinion and not fact?

You don’t think completely losing your brakes would be horrifying?

Im just curious, am I missing something?

Last time I checked losing brake while drive is pretty damn terrifying. I'm lucky I was only backing out of a parking spot

Yes, you are.

You were responding to someone's comments on actuarial tables.

"The actuaries at General Motors have determined it’s more economical for you and your family to die in a horrific car crash and settle the lawsuit out of court.  Issuing a recall for their defective systems would cost hundreds of millions and spread across several vehicle product lines."

That actuarial comment is based on opinion, not fact.

There is no proof of a grand conspiracy behind the loss of brakes on these trucks.

Bad Engineering, yes.  Bad manufacturing, yes.  Bad customer service, yes.

You cant make a statement like that unless you yourself know the diehard facts, witch you don't.

What are you trying to accomplish here but arguing with people who have lost brakes while driving?

I have no intention of arguing with anyone that has lost brakes.

Since I do own one of these trucks, I am interested in the overall outcome of this condition.

This issue, more than any other the new Silverado's are experiencing, is paramount, since this one over all the other more common issues has the highest potential to cause the loss of life.

Getting whipped into a frenzy over actuarial tables and conspiracy theory tangents helps nobody and doesn't get to the root of the issue, or help anyone that may have to interface with their dealer or GM directly.

Wrong.

I was commenting on the fact that people losing their brakes is horrifying.

The fact that, some people lose their brakes, (and if I have read correctly)  shut off their vehicle and  30 min later everything is fine and cannot duplicate the sysmptoms for the dealer.

How GM is or will handle this is not what I was referring to. I apologize for not being clear.

Sorry about my misunderstanding your quote.

I agree with you, this is a serious problem that deserves serious dialogue.

We have a brand new 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 ATV.  Didn’t even have it one week when it lit up like a Christmas tree and had ABS issues. Then it happened again a week later. Couldn’t get the emergency brake off. Once I finally did, I was driving down the highway and the brakes were SO scary. Took all my weight and a while to slow. Also power steering went out. Bought the truck in Idaho, but live in central Oregon. The Chevy dealership now has had our truck for three weeks and they have yet to fix it or try to make it right with us. I am FURIOUS. Have been a loyal GMC customer for 20+ years, but these past few weeks have undone all those years of loyalty. I cannot believe a brand new truck could have so many issues and no resolution or customer service on GMC’s end.

Anyone have a similar experience? And was it at all resolved?

The battery in the truck went dead and I had it boosted by the AMA. When it came back to life there was an engine failure light on, brake failure light on, parking and trailer break light on. Took it for a spin around the block and the brakes were like mush. Also had multiple other systems failure notices. Truck towed to dealer. I was informed that the master cylinder failed and that multiple other systems needed resetting. Dealer has had truck for 5 days and no end in sight. This is rather weird and frightening. What if it happens on the highway?

Currently have my 2020 Gmc sierra 1500 with a build date of 09/2019 at the dealer with 2kmiles on it. Battery was dead one morning after jump starting had check engine light and brake failure alert message sent to my email. Truck would not hold a charge. Its been at the dealer for 3days now
