I have a 2019 LTZ with the upgraded infotainment system and must be missing something.  When I got the vehicle the infotainment screen could be on without the radio.   I hit the radio buttons and setup my presets, then tried to turn radio off.   I can only mute it or turn the entire infotainment system off.

Is there anyway to turn the radio off and still have the system up?  I have gone thru all the manuals and can find nothing.  I can’t believe it can’t be turned off.

Am I missing something or is that the way it functions?

I think the only way is to mute the system with the button on the Radio [pressing power button] or on the steering wheel. The power button turns the entire system off.

Thanks, That matches the info I have found.  I can’ t believe that is the only way to turn it off.   Other than that I am loving it.

Mine only mutes it too.

Curious though, why do you need to shut it off completely?

If I put it to mute, that is fine until I shut the truck off.   When I turn the truck back on, it is no longer muted and I have to mute it again.  Sometimes it is nice just to ride with no radio and drive in peace and quiet.  My solution is now just to have the volume at is lowest when I turn truck off.

Thats because it’s not a “radio”. It’s an infotainment center. I believe you can set the volume to automatically be at zero when you start the truck. Other wise I’d say muting would be basically the same as turning off the radio portion.

I always minimize the volume before shutting down the truck. Old habit that started when someone said that speakers don't like to be jarred to life. Good habit.

Second that I do it every time.

Yeah, that what I am doing.  I get the fact that it is an infotainment system and therefore can shut pieces of it down.  I will look into setting the startup volume at 0.   Thanks everyone.  My previous car simply had a radio so new to the whole infotainment experience.

That turns off the entire infotainment system.   I now do that sometimes or turn the volume down when I turn the truck off.

This.

Go into "Settings", then "Radio", then start looking for something like "Maximum Startup Volume".  You can set it to whatever level you want then when you start the truck it's always goes to that level.

Well, it always comes back to "no louder than" that maximum level.

If you have it lower, it'll come back where you left it.

Yeah I set the max startup volume to 0, and that combined with the other options has resolved my issues.  Thanks for all the solutions.  Always something to learn on these trucks.

I have to say this is a design flaw in the infotainment system. They need to update this and let people turn the music off and hold that setting. Mute at startup is not the same as Off on startup or Last Volume Position on startup. If the last thing you were listening to was a podcast on your iPhone, and you later come back to your car, it starts up with “Max Volume at 0” setting and plays your podcast, although you can’t hear it, it is still playing, using your phone battery and losing your position on your podcast or music playlist. That’s very annoying.
