It is especially entertaining when the salesman argues with a potential customer about features, packages, engine numbers etc.

Turnover rates are so high that most dealers never have the chance to properly educate their salesman on all of the models.

and yeah theres a button to turn off auto/stop.....my salesman actually knew his shit tho

It’s a power draw thing. If the heater is on high, or the A/C compressor is engaged the auto stop feature is disabled. I would suppose it would hold true for the rear defroster, depending on its power draw.

In a similar thread, it was discovered that if you plug into your trailer electrical connections, the auto-stop is disabled.  My '18 Silverado ME does not have this feature, so I can not confirm it.  They plugged in a 4-pin tester, and reported that that was enough to disable it.  So my thought was that if you get a Hitch Brake/Tail Light (Bully CR-007A), plug it in, then auto-stop should be disabled.  If you want to disable the taillight side of it, making it a brake light only, I have a write-up on here to do so.

Hi Ed, great tip. Have noticed that as well in my 2020 silverado. Cant wait for the delete when im trailering, but have to admit, being in the Chicago subuerbs cant completly on the quto start stop. Guess it just depends on ones situation. Although very much looking into a throttle controller.

The Autostop Eliminator that I ordered was delivered today, and I installed it tonight. Took about 40 minutes start to finish. Quick testing shows that it works as advertised. Otherwise may disagree, but IMO it’s $80 well-spent.

I'ts on my 2.7L 2020 Custom so I'm kinda surprised you don't have it on the v6.

If you are really light on the brakes as you reach zero speed, the auto stop won't engage.
