I’ve had my Trail Boss LT for 2 weeks now. The brake monitor in the DIC says my front brakes are down to 86%. It was 100% when I took delivery. Zero hard stopping on my part. Do the brakes on this new truck wear down that quickly? At this rate the monitor will tell me I need new brakes in 7 months! Anyone else have a similar experience??

So it’s not just me!! I have an AT4 with 977 miles and my fronts are now at 86% and rears at 92%.

Same situation. No hard stops, just commuting back and forth to work so far. I have an appointment with my dealer Tuesday to look into it.

Ive asked other owners and many have a

couple thousand miles and are still at 98% or better on all four corners per their DIC.

Im sure its weighted heavily to support their dealer service/parts network ....

I wouldn’t assume brake wear is linear. The linings will glaze and harden a bit with heat, and the rotors will get bedded in a bit.

There is a bulletin about it. The dealer was supposed to reset it before delivery but the didn't. My oil life, air filter, and brake life all said 40 something % so I just reset them to 100% since the truck had 100 miles on it.

So dealer just called me. They called GM and were told that it’s an algorithm based on my starts and stops and is not based on a direct read of the pads themselves.

Im driving all highway and am not being aggressive with my stops, so I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’ve never had to prematurely replace brakes on any of my cars since my high school days so I’ll be watching my brake life like a hawk. Really curious to see what happens when I start towing campers this summer.

Ugh! Computers will be the death of us all. At the rate my percentage is falling, the truck is going to tell me I need new brakes in just 4 months. That's just ridiculous. I'll be setting it back to 100% and going about my day until such time as I hear the tried and true "brake squeal" indicating end of life on the pads.

Your dealer or GM is full of horse manure.

From page 334 of the owner's manual:

How to Disable the Brake Pad Life System

The brake pad life system can be turned off. This may be necessary if aftermarket brake pads without wear sensors are installed. When the system is turned off, the front and rear brake pad life percentages will not display. However, the built-in wear indicators that make a high-pitched warning sound when the brake pads are worn can still determine when the pads should be replaced.

My situation same as all but now with 15000 miles I'm getting warning "service brake pad monitor"  not service brakes.  So I'm guessing the sensor that checks the pads is failing.  Anyone seen this?
