My 2020 did not come with an SD navigation card.  Dealership told me I could buy one and utilize the nav system "offline" (no subscription services, no data plan).  Have not found good info online so far that says the same...  Can anyone confirm?  If I buy  a card and plug it in will this work?  Where do I buy the card?

Same thing on my 2019 with 800 miles on it. GMC needs some quality controls at the plant. Now I remember why I have been driving Lexus for ten years -never a problem.

dealer said that they will order a new card reader but don’t think that’s the problem. I guess I don’t have nav in my $70k vehicle why they try to figure out what their problem is.

**update: flipped the switch on the card and now it works. Not going to tell the dealer just in case but Nav is working again now

My wife had a NX200t F Sport and had nothing but problems with her radio, traded it and got an Acadia Denali. All brands have issues

I am having the same problem with my 2019 Colorado ZR2, and haven't been able to use the Navigation system  properly in months due to this!

Corporate had me bring my truck in to a dealer for a software update; Version 807, which they stated will be released as an over the air update in January.

They stated they were absolutely confident that this would solve the problem, as the software was created to solve this particular problem.

Well… guess what… the problem remains!

Beyond upsetting that after all this time, and the assurances provided, that there’s no resolution in sight!

Anyone else have any news to report?

Anyone find resolution? If so, how?

What has corporate / your dealers been telling you?

Total BS.  If you have the Nav system, you get a card.  Note the cards are serialized to the truck, so you can't take one out of a buddy's truck and swap it to see if it works.  Call you (idiotic) dealer and explain to them that you were not given the SD card for your NAV system.

Had this exact same issue with my new 2020 AT4 (CarbonPro) diesel.  Would not work while at the dealership, but I drove 500 miles to get my truck (and it was Saturday Evening) so I made the trip home without NAV.  After I got home, I was troubleshooting (seeing if other connections inside the console worked) and after plugging a USB cable into the jack next to the SD slot, it started working.  This was the first time the SD card ever worked as it then began to "initialize" the card for the NAV system.  Figure it was a loose connector on the cable or the jackplate.  Every once in a while, I'll get a "SD card removed" error after I'm messing around inside the console, so there's likely an intermittent connection issue there.  I'll have a look at it when I get around to installing my AutoStop Eliminator.

Anybody seen a TSB on this?

My finally got fixed had to have take it to the dealership and they had to download a software update to the radio that The dealer could only get. It took two days for them to get the software to download even to their computer. It’s been working for me since it only messes up sometimes but it fixes itself.

what software version(s) does your system report now?

After researching the Nav upgrade for my 2020 Silverado 1500 I had my dealer order the card and they're going to install all the software and updates when it comes in.

I could have saved a few bucks by ordering it myself but this way their warranty covers it.

I've read about all the problems you all are having so I'm aware things might not all be rosy for awhile so we'll see.

 Any updates on this anyone?

I'm still having the difficulty with this.

Now on Version 807.

Thanks. :(

Bummer, I got the updates last week, and after a couple of days, I'm still having all the same crashing issues too.  so it would appear the update didn't fix anything.

Is the lock position on the nav SD card switch UP toward the top of the card or DN toward the contacts?  I want to try this.  Thank you.

Hi Andrew,

So your SD Card Removed problem has been resolved?

Can you please give us a break down of your whole matter and which vehicle you have.

My 2019 Colorado ZR2 had ZERO problems on what I believe was software version 509.

Did an over the air update at home to 805 and the SD Card Removed error started happening.

Often had to drive without NAV, which was annoying, as I specifically wanted a NAV truck.

Dealer did an update to 807 and the problems became worse with the system freezing, going black and restarting frequently.

They now want to replace the SD Card receptacle (jack/cable).

Can you please give a complete, detailed break down of what you did and how you got them to finally fix yours.

Do you have any problems at all now with your infotainment system?

I'm concerned with what you wrote: "it only messes up sometimes".

Please explain.

Thanks so much.

They replaced the sd card first, reader part, the usb cable, the whole radio unit, and finally they called GM and got a software patch that the dealership had to download it. It took them two day’s to get it to download to their computers. After the patch update it was fixed. It’s been okay every since. At first sometimes it would still pop up the error message but it would fix itself and work right then. Last week the only random thing was my backup camara had a blue screen on it. But it finally came back after it sat awhile and worked. Your best bet is to take it to a dealer and have them call GM and have them install the patch for the radio system.

    • I had skimmed through that article when you posted the link and honestly I felt rather defeated in a sense and realized that all these years in changing oil that in fact putting in what I was told was a good quality oil was probably not filtered as well as it should be although the filter put on the engine would be what ( as long as it never went into bypass mode ) would be the final filtering of the new oil that the engine components would first see, but then the filtering media itself is not up to par to what is ideal because a full flow filter would be too restrictive to filter fine enough for the engines best outcome in the long run. Only one of our tractors over the years which was a Versatile with a 855 Cummins had a separate bypass filter, some engine manufacturers did spec a partial bypass system within the main oil filter but I don't believe any other trucks or equipment I was servicing used such a filter. No doubt a product like the Amsoil bypass system is of benefit as long as nothing goes sideways with the extra plumbing and filter such as a rupture/leak that could cause the oil to pump out of the engine ( yes that Versatile had a remote canister with hoses routed to it as well ). With the idiot egr system on a diesel and as a result forcing a lot more soot into the oil, that certainly isn't helping the diesel engines cause or as you pointed out the GDI engine issue with creating more soot and aside from having a fancy secondary filtering system, changing the oil more often helping lower the total soot load.     So oil manufacturing and the end product is not something one can control and I wonder if there are specs on what various oil packaging companies produce in particle count or size. As to the filtering, if the OEM is not designing a filter size and spec that is really what it could be, they too are short changing the end user and so what is the answer. Of course as you say the oil side can only do so much if the air side isn't keeping up its end of the picture and air filters are only so efficient and if in a dusty environment such as farm or construction or driving gravel roads there is a lot of dirt to filter out and some of that ends up into the air stream.    Of course the irony in places like where I am where they dump the salt on the highways but also will mix in some calcium or outright pure calcium for problem road area's, or using calcium as dust control on gravel roads, the vehicle that gets used in that environment may rust out before a properly engineered engine and maintenance finally wears out so one has to face that reality in the rust belt.
    • Has anyone run these on their 2500?
    • have you stuck with dealer oil changes since then? I made the same switch after getting tired of crawling around under the truck, but I’ve found some dealers are way better than others about getting you in quickly. Curious if yours has been good about scheduling or if you’ve had to look elsewhere for quicker turnaround.
    • Thank you.   I am set on a 3.0 Duramax as my previous truck with a Ford Ecoboost had just as many, if not more, "common" issues.  Cam phasers, timing chain issues, 10-speed valve body and CDF drum, emissions issues, etc.  So I figured, why not get 2x the fuel mileage (these things got 27+mpg on every mixed city/highway test drive I put them through) and better towing capability with resale value to boot?   My minimum, shortest trip will be 50 miles 1-way and I regularly go out of state with a travel trailer.  I'm planning on using this for a marketing/event promotion business also, which would require regular towing of trailers for bands, DJs, sound and lighting gear, along with my personal camera gear for filming events.   Looked at other trucks in the $30k+ price range but the issues seem to be everywhere, plus too many with gaudy mods.  I'm literally sticking with RWD trucks because they tend to be actually used as trucks, vs. the 4x4 models I've seen with unsafe lifts, huge tires, and general mods that would affect reliability (I'm wondering if some of them were tuned, hence the aggressive throttle response and hard shifting).   So my goal is to find a stock, 3.0 with 1 or 2 owners, in good physical condition, and decently well maintained.  Can't seem to find that up here, everything in the $27-30k range has had multiple owners, smoke smell, issues, or body damage.  Or the ridiculously modified trucks with 80k miles for under $27k but lots of problems...
    • That’s pretty tough Grumpy. I reread the previous few posts. They all reference oil changes. Much like your last thread. In my humble opinion it keeps things interesting.
