OnTheReel Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Stupidity is simply people doing things that they want to work, instead of doing things that will work. Apply that to anything. Politics, maintenance, business, relationships. 1

Yes, somewhere along the line we got to a point where if we could get enough support for a lie we thought we could will it into being true. Physics has either an opinion nor an agenda. It has consequences. Those consequences lead to failure and the insistence that we can avoid failure by a second attempt of bad advice is a good definition of stupid. Like believing there is education in the mules second kick.
customboss Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Spontaneous Synchronization = commentary by Grumpy. The more he vibrates here the more he makes sense?
KARNUT Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 I’m more impressed by results I can put my hands on. Then what I read on paper. My brother in law has routinely reached near 300K miles. Like me has 25 year old vehicles. Between us there’s 4. Then two 16 year old my newest is ten years old. His is 12 years old. Old high mileage vehicles are nothing new. To some we’re doing it wrong. I’ll keep doing it wrong. 1

Yeah, staying away from blanket statements like” lies lies it’s all lies” when no one can grasp what’s being lied about. Hey here’s a news flash, humans lie. Also Grumpy doesn’t have a monopoly on TRUTH! Grumpy and those that think in this vein stick with your automobile facts. Leave the philosophy to Facebook or other sites. Leave the philosophy to Facebook or other sites. I’m sure I’ve said it before I bring experience. Nothing exotic. 5K oil changes average. 30 to 60k transmission fluid changes. Some of my vehicles that I hand down go by what Grease Monkey or Valvoline quick lube recommendations. I vetted each. Total average stuff. If they have questions they call me. We don’t buy crap vehicles. It’s hot here we don’t like to walk. Besides my brother in law my Grandaughter is driving a 2010 Mazda 3 that is surprising us all with its high mileage. She recently wrecked it and spent 5K on fixing it. She likes it that much. I wouldn’t have advised it. Much more than I paid for it when we found it. She using my formula says she’s still money ahead. I couldn’t argue that. I didn’t call her an idiot like some self proclaimed experts would have said. 1

Donstar Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 My high school math teacher had "sayings" posted around his classroom that have stuck with me. If you were not displaying appropriate behavior, you could find yourself writing out a relevant quotation 100's of times. One of them was: "Empty vessels make the most noise." 1 1

My wife’s grandmother used to pin sayings on the chair I sat on when I came to visit my future wife. All kinds some from Dear Abbey. While getting married young was common in my family. They were horrified by the sports car driving, long sideburns, leather jacket wearing cocky young man. Courting their 16 year old princess. Sunday will be 52 years. 1
