A/C Repairs - 2015 Silverado 1500, 5.3L Flex V8

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon guys,

So the AC compressor clutch on my 2015 Silverado 1500 LT, with the 5.3L V8 Flex engine just seized and snapped the belt. Time for some repairs. As I am out of warranty I was hoping that you guys could give me some assistance on the parts that need to be changed so I get this right the first time.

By the image below (from GM Parts Direct), what number parts should have be ordering to complete this repair successfully the first time. I know I need #19 (Compressor) and #1 (Condenser assy).

What other parts do I need?

Also, I'm having issues finding AC Delco parts at a decent price. Would a Denso AC Compressor work just as good? Would a Keystone aftermarket Condenser be just as good?

What Santech AC Ring Kit would I need?

My thanks in advance guys!

My plan is to replace the AC Compressor, Condenser, Evaporator Valve, and Seals

However I’m trying to figure out if it’s necessary to flush the evaporator. And how to do it since you can’t flush through the evaporator valve?

Replacing the parts is easy enough.

Once you remove the valve used an air blow gun with a rubber cone on the tip and blow through the evap. That'll do.

There might be oil so keep a towel handy.

Ok so I got the compressor, evaporator tube, hoses, and the condenser out tonight. Gonna replace it all this weekend.

However I’m curious about how to flush the hose out properly as it has the canisters built into it.

Also should i remove the pressure sensor when flushing the lines.

I want to be sure I do this right so I don’t wreck the new compressor.
