I have not had the opportunity to test this yet, but it is possible to leave the truck doors locked and vehicle running with a/c on?  I ask due to dogs.  It would be nice to be able to stop at a restaurant and lock the dogs in the truck while keeping the a/c on.  I know I could potentially keep starting with the my chevrolet app every 10 minutes, but was curious if the referenced scenario is possible.  Thanks

No the only way to do this is leave the second fob in the truck and then you only get 45 minutes to an hour, you can only use remote start twice. To lock the truck you have to use your phone or the fob the door buttons won’t work. This was done intentionally because some people were leaving the car running in the garage. It is the same for all the GM fob vehicles. There are are at least 2 other threads where this has been discussed at length.

The method you described with the second fob sounds like a good solution.  Dogs have come up in the world, so do not want to walk out of the restaurant with a mob gathered around my truck and the police on scene :)

I have got out and locked doors with it running. Y’all saying it will eventually shut off?

Yes it will run about 10 minutes unless you leave the fob inside. This has been discussed a lot, it is not broken GM did it on purpose.

Yup I heard all these trucks have a built in auto shut off after so much time idling.

I've read only solution if you want longer run time is to put vehicle in N and set parking brakes.

Nowadays, that's no assurance that it happen anyway. Might consider a sign in the window saying engine and A/C are on. Hopefully it will prevent some goody two shoes deciding they want to be an internet hero and save the dogs by attracting a crowd and smashing open a window (hopefully the dogs will bite their a$$ if they do).

A few months ago came back to my truck and some overweight hausfrau in a moo-moo was taking a video of my truck for posting on the internet offering her 2 cents commentary how some inconsiderate A-hole was parking in a disabled space without a pass. I strung together a few expletives to spice up her video along with comments that if she was as tall as she was wide and her glasses weren't as thick as her neck she might have seen the disabled pass with the damaged mirror hanger displayed at the bottom of the front windshield. Lucky for her she waddled off before my wife came out of the store......my comments must have discouraged her from posting it, but I really would have liked a copy to show my friends.

Just sayin'....plenty of 'em out there.

Buy a $9 CO2 alarm . Most cops that drive Explorers have them in their briefcase.  One bit of sealer skip from the robot will give you a hole for CO2 to come in the cab.

I've locked mine running many times to run in at a store/grocery store etc. with no 2nd fob inside.  The horn will chirp a few fast series letting you know it was locked with engine running.  Not sure how long it will run for (said 10 mins)? So if you leave the fob in it'll run 45 mins?

It’s 30 minutes without the key and one hour with, or so the owners manual says.

FYI, you can disable the annoying horn chirps by turning off the “key left in vehicle alert” in the infotainment. Even though you are taking the key with you, that menu still turns the chirps off...

FWIW  Public awareness of the dangers of leaving pets/children in hot cars has reached an all time high.  This is a good thing.  ( I appreciate some may be over zealous in their efforts to catch offenders.)  I hate leaving my dog at home and will only do so when absolutely necessary.  (Grocery shopping is an example)  All other stores, I take my dog (on hot days) into the store.  Even businesses that have signage discouraging pets will allow me to browse with my dog on hot days.   If approached by sales staff, I politely ask if it is alright because I can't l leave her in the car.   I have never been sent out of a store with my dog.  This widespread awareness includes storeowners and can be used to your advantage.
