2019 Silverado Trail Boss

Purchased our truck 8-17-19. Occasionally when when shut off engine then come back later, insert key it will not start??? BUT IT WILL START REMOTELY??? This has happened about 3 times in 3 days?? What are we doing wrong? I personally think it’s user error.

I had this happen twice before I realized I wasn't putting my foot on the brake before starting. I'm not saying you're as dumb as I am (because that would be quite a feat!), but sometimes it is the simplest little things.

do you have a custom trailboss or LT trailboss. If you have an actual key then you shouldn't have to press the brake to start the truck. IF its keyless then yes you need to push the brake pedal.

LT Trailboss. It does have a key but when problem occurs we can’t even turn the key in the ignition?

It’s NOT keyless start.

True. Something doesn’t sound right. Also weird that an LT TB wouldn’t have push button start. Learn something new every day.

Sounds like something may be wrong with the interlock. I checked mine and ct_corey is correct. Definitely a trip to the dealer is in order.

So I guess not LT

It does not have push button start, it has a key.

Is it because your wheels are turned, and the steering wheel has locked? sometimes that locks out the ignition, if you grab the wheel and turn it straight does that fix the problem?

I’ll try next time it happens. What the hek, crazy if that’s the problem...

Used to happen to me all the time... wheel was turned, therefore locked, and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition. Very possible this is your issue.

You spent 50K on a Custom Trail boss? What the....

 

I paid 36K for my Custom Crew Cab with V8.
