Parking brake randomly on

I see a lot of brake threads but haven't came across one about the electronic parking brake randomly being applied. I've had mine do this several times and don't see a reason or pattern. A few days ago I opened and closed the tailgate a few times within a few minutes and the parking brake applied. Today I stopped at the bank and walked in and when I came back out 5 minutes later the parking brake was on. It did it one other time not long after I got the truck but can't remember what I was doing, just remember getting in and the parking brake was on for no reason.

I had this happened to me also had  it happen while I was driving. They finally changed the transmission  after I got the better business bureau on record.

From understanding others, it will come on randomly to keep it from locking up. its just to keep the mechanism free and usable.

Yeah, this is basically a system process. Occurs randomly.

We noticed this too, but it seem to be only after we got out while the keys were still in the truck.  Thought maybe that was a safety feature ??

Mine applied the other day when loading something into the bed of my truck. I feel like it sensed the truck rocking and set the brake.
