I will admit it is very rare...and the utility is also rare but i hit the speed limiter recently making a pass on the highway around left lane hogs slowing down a ton of traffic.  98mph?  Really?  Most highways around me the typical speed is 80mph.  Feel like my 2011 didnt have this limit...but cant recall

Anyone know how to remove the limiter?

I believe the previous gen is the same. Thought I had read somewhere that its due to the drive shaft or something not being able to handle the stress of higher speeds. Could be wrong.

Mine kicks in at 112, which incidentally  is the speed rating of my tires.

Hmmmm....how does the computer know what tire rating i have?

Not to tough for them to know what tires it was born with, and of course, that's where the limiter gets set.

The the best of my knowlege it is about the factory equipped tire.

20” wheels with 275/60/20 tend to be 112mph
18” wheels regardless of tire 98mph

The 22” 265/50/22 with Alenza tires also 112

I have the 22” Alenzas, and it shuts down at 107.

I cant say for certain for these trucks, but on the K2's they were limited because of driveshaft overspeed. The limit was different depending on the transmission and final drive ratio. There were numerous modded truck people saying they had their DS explode around 115mph. Which is not something I would want to experience. As stated, tire speed ratings come in to play. Most quality OEM size All Terrain tires are usually in the 98-112mph range.

That sucks, as I was hoping on cruising at 112.

This is something that my guy just learned about with his 2020 GMS Sierra SLT- this was never disclosed anytime or anywhere  during the selling of this truck.  THIS SHOULD BE  FULL DISCLOSURE to the customer.  Way to go GMC! now this a serious issue not knowing!  At least Corporate knows🤫- not the consumer!
