Multi Tailgate - open both at same time?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

Trying to figure out why trying to press both multi pro tailgate buttons at the same time, only works like 1/4 of the time.

Dealer told me I should be able to press both and have it fold into the step in one shot. And it does work, but not always. Most times just the main gate opens.

The tailgates work perfectly fine independently. I do not see it referenced in the manual.

Thanks.

Don't try to press them at the exact same time. Press one and then the other one about a half second later. Works for me every time.

You’re probably not pressing them in the same order, maybe hitting one button slightly before the other one I’m guessing. On my truck, if I drop the small gate first the big part of the gate will not drop. I’m guessing that’s a feature to try to stop the gate from hitting something below it. So if I accidentally hit the button on the small gate first I have to close it and then open the larger part first. If yours is like mine, maybe you are hitting the button for the big gate slightly before the small one when it works  and when it doesn’t you are hitting the small gate first?

Yep, same here. Staggering the presses by a nanosecond works every time for me.
Doesn’t matter the order either.

As mentioned about.  Hit the lower first and then the upper button and it works like a charm every time.

Learn something knew every day.  I've been dropping the big gate first, then hunting around with my fingers for the small gate to make the step.  Excited to try this out.

Again, it doesn’t matter the order of which button gets pressed first. If both buttons are pressed almost simultaneously, the main gate will open first, then shortly after the inner gate will open, even if the inner gate button was pressed first.

At least that’s the way it works on my 2020 Sierra HD.
