Has anyone successfully been able to put tow mirrors on the 2019 Trailboss LT? Would really like to see some pictures if someone has and if they have does everything work as far as side marker lights and stuff? It's really annoying GM wouldn't have made tow mirrors available for 2019.

I believe Boost, mentioned upthread, makes tow mirrors for the 2019 and earlier trucks.  Just not the 2020 and newer models yet….
best of success to you.

I have been looking for the correct part numbers for the DQS towing mirrors for my 2020 High Country, @newdude helped me determine that 84994407 and 84879432 are the right part numbers for my truck.  It turns out that there are three different designs in 2020.

I found a set and ordered them today, hopefully all the standard features work.  I may have to remove the VCM, and have it reprogrammed to correct the camera angles and I'll need to determine how to correct the issue keeping the rear facing lights from working.

I have a 2019 RST. Installed Spec-D tow mirrors from Real Truck. Power adjust worked immediately, mirrors have heat option but my truck does not. The puddle lamps, reverse lamps, and amber marker lamps do not work. However, the marker lamps partially illuminate very dim at all times. They won't shut off on the truck until after several minutes of sitting.

I have seen the boost auto harness that supposedly connects the reverse lamps to your bed lamp button (which I have) but haven't attempted to purchase/install because I don't know if it works with non boost mirrors. Should I be considering GM harnesses instead to get the lights working. I've seen quite often there's a dramatic difference between 2019 and 2020+ wiring.

I think you need this harness to get all the functions working properly, with the RZY harness option for your 2019.

Big news!   Boost Auto Parts has released their tow mirrors for the 2019-2022 trucks.  Preorder available and 15% off with code EARLY2019.

They have a good rep. I just ordered a set.  I hope they work as advertised.  🤞

Hey man. Does your high country have the tech package with 360 cameras, blind spot, etc? My ordered high country just showed up at the dealer with everything I wanted except tow mirrors. Wondering if you got this swap to work because I don’t want to wait another 10 months for a new build if I can order these mirrors and do the swap without losing any functionality. My dealership is telling me they cannot do it.

Believe it or not, the dealer has had my truck since I placed this order, so they aren’t installed.  I know there are issues to resolve during the installation.  Boost has the wiring mods that resolve the issues with spot lights not functioning and allowing them to work in reverse.  The VCM will need to get sent in to White’s (at least that is who I think it is) so the camera angles all display as they should.

Also, Boost has their own tow mirrors and the price per pair is much better than OEM…

Thanks for the reply. I looked into the boost option, however, they don’t support the 360 view with the cameras yet so I would lose that feature. Spoke with them and the camera compatibility is in development with no ETA.

My dealership is claiming there’s no way to get the GM DQS tow mirrors to properly communicate with the truck even though I’m trying to get them matched spec for spec (blind spot, cameras, etc) they say they cannot order those mirrors nor would they even connect.

Has anyone successfully had their VCM reprogrammed to correct the camera angles?

Honestly, the dealer is clueless.  I would reach out to @newdudeto make sure you get the right part number for your truck and then hunt for the best price online.  Most of the features are plug and play with the right mirrors.  It is just the minor issues that you have to resolve. Also, mine is a 2020, I have no idea what the differences are on a 2023...

That’s kinda what I’m gathering. I’d reached out to him previously and he has been awesome answering questions and given me the part numbers. Huge help.

The dealer has offered to cover the cost of the mirrors(before they said it couldn’t be done) so worst case I might just get them to order me the mirrors if they will pay for them and if they don’t want to try tackling the install I might try it myself. Have you received your mirrors yet? Or are they still in transit while your truck is at the dealer? Wondering if they really are plug and play or if there’s another harness I might need as some others have posted above.

Seems like newdude is the community expert on this subject.

If I could just order a new one and have it show up within a few months I’d do that but this one was ordered way back in January and is absolutely perfect aside from the mirrors. 6.2, max tow, tech package, multiflex tailgate, retractable steps, iridescent Pearl, nightshift blue interior. Very frustrating situation… doesn’t make it easier that when he said it was on its way I went ahead and bought rims, tires and lift which are sitting waiting to be installed. Should have known to wait for the truck to show up.

I have the OEM mirrors and the wiring mod kits from Boost sitting in my garage waiting to install.  I hope to have my truck back soon.  Boost has install videos, I think the install looks pretty easy.

Just got a reply from WAMS saying they have no workaround for the refreshed 22-23 trucks. Makes sense that with a totally new interior display that the VPM would be different from 2019-2022. Boost, however, is working on adding the 360 camera support on their mirrors, just with no ETA. Sounding like I’m going to be SOL if I take this truck until those new boost mirrors come out.

Excellent quality and easy to install.  BAP has a very nicely detailed youtube video to walk you through it as well.

    • Hasn't come up in the 3 gm forums I follow. And only gm knows the frequency of failure of that part. LMG, you want a recall so it's replaced for free...
    • You need a better code reader/scanner.  You are missing codes.  Did the dealer give you a copy of the SAVI scan from that visit?     If the fluid hasn't been changed, change it.  Shudder will likely go away.
    • TLDR to my other post...   Hard. Pass.  Too many what ifs.     Are you set on a 3.0 Duramax?  Have you considered anything not GM just in case?  If you don't have to have a pickup, lots of other options for $27,000 out there.
    • I see some red flags.   - No mention in the Carfax if the oil pump belt was changed.  LM2s had a 150,000mi service interval, and its got 164,245mi on it.  So right out the gate it needs about $3000-3500 for that to be done before driving it another 150,000mi.  Belt is at the rear of the engine.     - If something happens to the transmission valve body, the special coverage is expired by mileage.  That will likely be an out of pocket expense, with zero or near zero GM participation if something happened even though its in by time.   - 2020 LM2s seem to need timing chains after 80,000mi at some point.  They fixed this end of 2020/starting 2021 model year engines.  They will usually set a P0016 I think?  There is another $8000-10,000 if it needs a chain.  The main chain is at the back, secondary at the front so the pump belt would be done at the same time if it needed chains.     - Long oil change intervals.  7,000-8,000mi on average, probably close to 0% or perhaps to or beyond 0% on the OLM.  Lots of them not at the dealer which makes me wonder how much of the oil ran through that truck was the proper Dexos D rated 0w20 oil and not just gas engine 0w20, which is not the same at all.     - Long fuel filter changes, again likely taking the fuel filter life to 0% or more.  First one went 28,603, second was done 43,094 miles later at 71,697, from there another 46,452mi to 118,149mi, and then the most recent one 37,026mi later at 155,175mi.  So counting its original fuel filter, its had only 4 fuel filters on it.  No bueno IMO.         Good news?    - It has had only two warranty trips to the dealer.  The first free service (end of December 2020 on the Carfax), and the transmission reprogram recall (end of August 2025 on the Carfax).     - Truck did a LOT of moving, so that might explain the lack of emissions related repairs like bad NOX sensors, bad exhaust temp sensors, bad glow plugs, etc.         The "emissions system checked" could just be how something was flagged for Carfax.  GM dealers have to do SAVI reports for warranty repair orders so they scan the truck.  So its possible that is there for that?
    • Thank you, @Z45!   NOTE - No all repair shop/Dealers reports to Carfax   That is my main concern.  The CARFAX looks way too clean for a 6 year old anything with 164,245 miles.  Even something known for reliability (like many Toyotas) typically has a lot more replaced, like a Nav screen, interior trim, shock/strut, or brake pads.  And surely the last set of tires (installed at ~58k miles) would be bald unless those were all highway miles.   I'm tempted to pay a local dealer to look up the VIN, but am not sure if that will be worthwhile.  Last time I did this, it was 100% useless, and I felt scammed - they noted the bumper was replaced years ago and that's it.  A 5-year old could spot the accident damage, even though nothing was on the CARFAX.   After giving the dealer a call, the truck may have a hard shift, but they have to verify with their mechanic if that's even a concern.  And I've test driven about a dozen of these now, many near Chicago, and half the trucks shift hard/odd at all throttle positions.  The ones with aftermarket lifts/larger tires shift terrible, and 3 stock trucks shifted so violently I thought the transmission valve body was going out.   At this point I'm conflicted, as I need a vehicle, and am coming up short locally.  Northern trucks in this price range tend to have either multiple owners, a lot of mods (lifts/oversized tires without re-gearing), and are generally in rougher shape.   If this truck showed up in your neighborhood for $27k and you had to purchase it sight-unseen, with the possibility of needing a 10L80 rebuild, torque converter, or rear end - would you do it?  I'm convinced most of the 10L80 trucks I test drove are broken, they can't all shift so bad, with massive flares/slipping/lurching and mis-matched downshifts like a teen driver learning stick.
