At a certain fan rpm(one notch just below half) my fan will create a slight whistle. It’s by no means awful, but is noticeable. Just curious if anyone else has had something similar? Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s on defrost, front, etc.

Are all your vents open?

Every one except the rear passenger vents. Guess I could open them. Didn’t really think about that.

Those are probably not the issue unless the sound is coming from them.

In my old F250 I had a weird whistle when the ac was on. Took the blower motor out and cleaned the accumulated dust off of the fan blades. This made the noise go away. Seeing as how yours is pretty new though, that might not be the issue either. Maybe check the filter (if these trucks even have one)?

Sounds like it’s coming right from the defrost area. But yea. Truck only has about 600 miles on it.

I have this same issue. But it only happens sometimes. Sometimes my HVAC doesnt perform fully, as in doesnt flow as much air as it can. Happens about 1/15 times. When it doesnt peform to its fullest (for i dont know reasons), the whistle sound happens.

its frustrating but prob hard to diagnose since its impossible to replicate.

You  could try yanking the cabin air filter to see if it makes a difference.

Oddly enough my rear seat vents being closed was the cause. As soon as I got off work I tried it and it goes away when open and returns when closed. Must create some weird back pressure.

i started getting an electronic whine kinda noise coming from the passenger side a few months after i bought my 2019 silverado.  It definitely was not there at first, and was not in the loaner truck i had a couple months ago when they were working on stuff.   it is for sure louder at lower fan speeds.  the dealer replaced a fan assuming it would fix it but it didnt.  they then were supposed to change a resister or something near the floor on the passenger side (thats where the noise appears to come from for me) but that did not fix it and they told me they called GM and they said it is normal, but i dont buy it.  i am also not 100% sure if they actually changed anything the last time, or if they just called GM and then decided not to change anything based on what they said.   Needless to say i am going to keep having them look at it because i know its not an issue on all of them at first.

Same issue for me. Slight intermittent whistle that started after about 8 months of ownership. No way to duplicate it and I cant predict it either. Frustrating because I know taking it in for just this issue would probably be pointless unless I get lucky and the noise happens to start when I pull it in the shop.

Got rid of the whistle, but I got a squeak under the dash somewhere now. Lol. Radio volume up = problem solved.

There’s a 30$ Insulated pad you can buy from GM that will fix the fan noise issue

Part number is: 84487175

Description: lower insulator for passenger side (hush panel)

You’re welcome

Is this an accessory or does it already come with certain models? I have the wine in my hvac that drives me nutty and if helps I’d be very happy.
