Weird Pattern On Driver Bedside

Recommended Posts

So I have this weird pattern that looks like an impact just behind my driver bedside wheel well. It's only visible when the truck has a dusting of dirt on it. When the truck is clean there's absolutely nothing there. Anyone know what this could be from or have this on theirs too? Can't for the life of me figure out what it's from.

Truck is a 2020 loaded 1500 at4 with the duramax. Could there be a sensor or something back there causing a reaction?

Have you used a buffer wheel on your truck?

That's what it looks like to me.

Try some Meguiars Scratch-X on it.

I haven't used anything on the paint unless the dealer did. But like I said it's not visible at all when clean.. Weird

Kinda looks like the size of a suction cup that a robot would use during assembly but that's just a guess.

I would try cleaning it, using a clay bar and then buffing the area with some finish cut compound to see if it goes away.

My guess is there's some kind of residue on the paint in that area that is only easily visible when the paint is dirty.

What is the line in the center of the mark?

It may sound strange, but every once in a while I will get a hair from one of my 4 huskies that will stick the paint if it is fresh (the hair), and will make a circular scratch in the paint as you drive from the wind.

All good guesses here. I too think that maybe the dealer used a buffer on it and left residue. Fixed some light damage and looks good when clean. Wash it. Clay it. Polish it. The whole truck. Should go away.

The suction cup idea interests me. I have seen spots on many of my vehicles windows over the years that are obviously that. Can never get rid of them 100%. Most of the time you dont see them but in the right conditions they pop up.

Thank you! I didn't notice that when I was taking the Pic and when I went to go look today it was hidden in that wheel well trim! It was exactly what you said a piece of dog hair! I removed it so I'll see if that's the case.. Originally thought suction cup too but I figured it was in an awkward location to be auctioned. I would have never guessed this...

Kind of become an expert on dog hair, having 4 dogs that only shed once a year for 365 days at a time.

definitely saved me some headache... I was trying to figure it out for a month almost before posting. Surprised it stayed in there with multiple washes an 5000 clicks.

No problem, I am full of "awesome" knowledge, just ask my wife.....

What kind of dog do you have, or was it just a rouge hair that attached itself to your truck?
