Trying to buy a new truck

Greetings, new to this forum, but not new to Chevy trucks.

I'm finding it's hard to find the truck that I want.  I want a crew cab, short box, LT Trail Boss in Cajun Red.

I want a 6.2L but none near me at all in that color. So going to settle for the 5.3L.  I had a 2004 with a 5.3L  and it didn't seem to have much in towing power.

Are the new 5.3L with DI better at towing?

About the transmissions.  The 6, 8, 10 speeds?  how are they doing?

A friend had trouble with the 6-spd, a vibration like the 8-speed shudder.

How is the 10 speed doing.  I have a Camaro with the 10 speed and it work well, no trouble yet???

Anything else I should know?

Thanks

I think you will have a hard time right now with the shut down and plant closing.

Having said that ALL LT Bosses come with 10 speed. The 10 speed is awesome.

The 5.3 and 10 speed is a nice step up and really wakes up the 5.3

Good luck .

My advice? Don’t settle.

You’re going to pay a pretty penny for your truck, so get the engine you want!

If you find a truck with the key components your looking for (engine, paint color) but missing some changeable options then go for it! You can always add the Trail Boss lift or select a your own suspension lift. You can change your grill or black out your bumper, but get the color and engine you will really enjoy.

If you find one within a few hundred miles your dealer might be able to swap another vehicle with them to get yours on the lot.

Local dealers tend to team up and select a few packages to order in bulk from the factory to save money. This often makes it hard to find the perfect configuration. If you’re not trading in, then look in other states as many dealers will have a shipping option.

Unless you need the vehicle right away I would wait for new stock to arrive or build your own online and you will love it, with no regrets [emoji4]

Shows to be in transit.

Nice truck but that price is garbage though, 5,500 off msrp? They try and make things like nitrogen haha and step bars with a -1,600 off look better, i wouldn't budge at anything under 10 grand off msrp and not including accessory's, tell them to take them off or give them for free, that crap should not be apart of the final deal imo.

Where are you located?  I did an inventory search from chevrolet.com, used a Dallas Texas zip code with 2000 mile radius (should cover all of the US).  My search criteria was CC, LT TB, 6.2 and Cajun Red.

In transit according to chevrolet.com:  Bale Chevrolet Little Rock Arkansas

I agree.....youll be happy now but in a month or so you will regret not getting what you wanted, and it is a lot of money to "settle"

suspension and tires are easy, you can even put a much better kit on it as well, but yeah interior, options, engine, and tranny are not possible or very expensive and or difficult

you could buy an LT, RST, LTZ and make it a trailboss very easily.....

I had an 06 with the 5.3. I now have a '17 with the 5.3. The newer 5.3 is a much more powerful engine- no comparison. Then when paired with the newer trannys and a much better chassis, it's light years ahead of that '04. No comparison at all.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  Yes, I found most of those trucks and none of the dealers would do a dealer trade with my dealer of choice.

I found a 5.3 about 70miles from me and bought it.  Deal was not so good, but the inventory being low on the trucks they are getting what they want.  Yeah I could have walked but need a truck and wanted that color.

I was very surprized by how well the truck rode.  Better than my wifes Impala.

Im in the hunt for a 5.3tb or rst..yes stock is low..any trucks "in transit" seem to be stuck in mexico and dealers have no eta. I have a list of options and colors so right now im stuck. Its a sellers market it seems.

I've pretty much settled on a northsky blue RST z71 all star w/ conv.2, cloth seats.. problem is there's only 1 in 3 hours drive from me. and I just paid off my current truck a month ago.. still not received the title. so it looks like i'm in for a long waiting game.

I just got conv 2 pkg after having the conv 1 in 1500.....meh, not much different, if I found one in conv 1 it would be fine in  hindsight
