Thank you for the additional instructions.  I still hope to do this, but my truck does not have a VSP already, so wondering how much additional work that might be (as I am assuming some of the items already routed back behind the seat probably go straight to the radio in my truck).

I am selling a VCM from a 2020 1500 LTZ short bed crew, regular mirrors on ebay if anyone is interested. If your truck matches that layout you wouldn't need programming.  Would consider selling cheaper outside of ebay.  Remember you need to have the bedview cam package UVI to successfully do this.  This module would probably only work on 2020 don't know about 2021 or 2019.

not sure of part number but yes the fold and unfold with switch inside or key fob.  menus to select fold and memory options become unlocked in radio too once memory seat module is connected.

Thanks,  I've got the tow mirrors now and I think I'm going to make the switch back to regular mirrors this summer,  I really like the 360 views I have, but the blind spots are a pita :).  power fold is a must to fit in garage

Can you DM me on what your part number is and how much?  Thanks.

This may be a dumb question, but did you have the technology package, or trailer camera package before you started this?  Just talking with WAMS, (Chris) made it sound like if you didn't have one of those two, that it would be very difficult to complete this up-fit.  I have an LTZ, and amazingly I didn't notice that I don't have either unfortunately.  I don't trailer a bunch, but I would certainly like the 360 camera view.  Thanks.

Yes, you have to have the trailer cam package to complete this retrofit.  You know if you have the trailer cam package (UVI) if you have a camera in your high mount stop light but no video rear view mirror.

After installing front cam, mirrors and swapping VPM I had everything with 360 cameras working great except invisible trailer.  The radio app would not let me enter trailer dimensions so that VPM could calibrate correctly.  I bought WAMS wireless android radio/GPS and my invisible trailer app works now.  Just went camping this past weekend and everything works great just like from factory.  Calibrating is done by driving foward at about 12 mph for 30 seconds or so then the invisible trailer image appears.

Does the invisible camera view turn off after 15 seconds, or does it stay on the display until you turn it off, or some other event happens?

the image stays up and does not time out.  if you have turn activated camera option on in the radio, it will switch to a side camera view based on turn signal or steering angle.

if no bed view cam you probably dont have a VPM or harness to do this.  on mine, for turn signal camera view to display automatically trailer has to be plugged in.

How will I know if I have a VPM or harness to do this mod?

Jarett, I am trying to install the mirrors with the cameras in my 2020 sierra to give it the 360 surround. how did you wire in the cable for the cameras. It looks like on mine I have a cable in the door from the camera plug in the mirror harness. Do you know where this goes or does it dead-ends at the body connection?

I bought my video control module from you and the rear view display mirror. any help would be greatly apperciated.

    • It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t mandated outrageous fuel mileage standards. It does very little for the consumer. It adds cost. Back during Covid there was a chip shortage. They gave a rebate for your truck if it didn’t have the chip to turn on cylinder deactivation. It was 50$ because at best you may see 1/2 a mile increase per gallon. Splitting hairs each fuel mileage trick wasn’t mandated. The government doesn’t do the engineering work and say use this until it’s already in use and they like it. The fuel mileage was mandated. And those add ons the results. There’s a mandate and they are the results.
    • It was never mandated.  Ever.    Automakers were incentivized to install it by getting CAFE credits to help with their vehicle fleet fuel economy scores.  They were being handed money/CAFE credits to install it.  Which is NOT a mandate.       The current admin removed the incentives that were behind them installing it.
    • Are you playing Slide Down endlessly but your score is still low? Are you constantly crashing into obstacles as the game speed increases? Don't worry, this article will share 5 invaluable tips to help you master the race and impress your friends. Golden Rules 1. Look one step further. The mistake of 90% of new players is only staring at their character. The secret of experts is to look towards the top of the screen (where the slide is about to appear). This gives your brain an extra 0.5 - 1 second to process the situation and determine the direction of movement before the obstacle approaches. 2. Use gentle movements; don't swipe too hard. Slide Down is very sensitive. Moving your finger too forcefully or with excessive amplitude will cause your character to be thrown off course or crash into a wall. Practise moving your finger with small, decisive, and precise movements. 3. Don't be greedy for gold in dangerous locations. Gold coins are tempting for buying skins, but life is more important. If you see a gold coin right on the edge of a cliff or next to a spike trap, ignore it. Our goal is a High Score, and your score only increases if you survive. 4. Make the most of Power-ups. During the slide, you'll encounter items like Magnets (attract gold) or Shields (temporary invincibility). Never miss them! Especially the Shield, it's your "get out of jail free card" to help you get through those deadly fast sections. 5. Stay calm when speed peaks. When your score exceeds 500 or 1000, the game speed will be very fast. At this point, don't try to think logically; let your natural reflexes work. Take deep breaths and don't panic. Apply these 5 tips to your next game, and your leaderboard will surely improve dramatically. Good luck climbing the Slide Down leaderboard!
