chadman Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 I installed mine on my 2020 Sierra 5.3 at about 1,500 miles. At 5,500 miles I decided to check it. So after 4,000 miles this is what I found; about half full which seemed to be 2 to 3 ounces. That’s a fair amount of oil and it’s even more important to catch it on DI engines. 1
19TrailBoss Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Which catch can are you using?Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk

DemonWorks Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 It's always nice to see results ! I just emptied mine as well and had quite a bit.
mike5511 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 A catch can is considered a modification of the emissions system. Automatic voiding of your warranty the dealer tells me. Just a fyi.

Just a fyi.Thats crazy if true, a catch can is increasing reliability and over time reduce emissions as the valves will stay cleaner and seal better. Running premium gas won't even help a DI only engine, do these trucks use port as well as DI? Sent from my SM-N975W using Tapatalk

MoonDogg Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 It's easy to put the factory hose back and take the catch can out, there is no way they can prove you had one. 2

Doolin-Dalton Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Incredible, do you have a post already - step by step instructions and photos how to install this? Links to where you got yours? Sincere thanks if you can do this.

Pull the hose between the PCV and the manifold. If there is no oil in it you don't need a can. If there is, you need one. You don't need to ask a forum. You need to look for yourself. 1

Doolin-Dalton Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 This is awesome and you're right a must for DFI engines. My previous truck was the 2016 2500HD with the 6.0L V8 but I think that engine was the last of the SFI. DFI is nice, but it comes with a hiccup in gunk, these catch cans help eliminate that.
