That Lasfit looks pretty good! I took screenshots of the same part of the road you were on with each and compared them. I have one question that the video (due to quality) makes it really hard to tell.

It appears as though the stock HID lights might be better further down the road where the lasfit LED's dont do as good, but do significantly better up close. I paused the video's before you passed that factory looking thing on the left. The road looks like it was repaved and so there's a line, as soon as that disappeared under your hood, i paused it and took the screenshots. After comparing them and rewatching the video, it looked like i might be seeing more detail at a distance with stock vs lasfit. Can you confirm?
Not my video but I did go back and notice the same thing [emoji848]. I usually just run led on my fogs on my other vehicles and hid on my low beams. I've ran both hid and LEDs on past vehicles and prefer the hid over led

By brighter it may be meant in a way that HIDs will throw light further down the road than LEDs would in the same projector housing.

Diode Dynamics no longer sells LED headlight bulbs. According to law, halogen light bulbs can not be replaced by LED bulbs. Also, HID lights cannot be replaced by LED's either. The law states only bulbs of original type can be used in replacement and or any upgrade It;s all stated on their site now.  I know this for I put two led's from Diode Dynamics about a year ago to replace my dim stock halogen bulbs in my 2014 Sierra and they work just fine. However now if one goes bad I cannot get a replacement bulb from Diode Dynamics. So much for any warranty if needed.

since when has a modification being illegal stopped anyone from selling it?

that sounds kind of crazy. Thats a federal law or state?

pretty lame of them. They cant just market it for offroad use only like every one that sells pretty much any other modification?

From what I understand it's a federal law. Most people nor lighting product manufacturers knew much about it until it started being enforced lately. I think it has been a law for years. It's all stated at Diode Dynamics website.

No one to blame but the budding Optical Physicists.

I hope LE starts red flagging this dangerous junk and gets it off our roads.

They still sell LED bulbs.  They just legally say they are not headlights. They advise you it’s illegal and they can only be used as fogs or off-road applications. Click any bulb Size and the lights are still there form what I’ve seen.

Good deal. I see that now. Glad to see that in case I need a replacement while under warranty.

Probably so they don't get caught up in any legal battles. I'd do the same thing if it was my own company and there were laws against something like that.

Please tell me how it is dangerous? It isn't any different than any other lighting setup if properly adjusted.

yea but i guess thats a huge slippery slope. Thats like not being able to sell gasoline because if used improperly you burn your backyard down.

i think some of the new cars these days have more obnoxious headlights even when compared to my 04 that i had the ole ghetto HID in halogen housings lol....wont do that again.

anyways...it look like the 35w HIDs are the way i will eventually go.

I'm thinking the same as you Ray. I'd really like to see a comparison of those 5k lumens LEDs vs the 35w HIDs though. I'm wondering if they really are that much brighter, and with LED light not traveling as far as HID light, maybe the 5k LEDs go as far or fired than the 35w HIDs and provides superior lighting up close due to the increased lumens.

It shouldn't be this hard to choose :(

I've decided to go with the Lasfit LED's.

From my research, it does appear that light from LED's does not travel as far as light from HID's, making HID's slightly more useful, however! The Lasfit LED's are much brigher than the 35w HID's that we can get, so being brighter, my assumption is that the light will travel further than the 35w HID's, or at the very least, just as far. In considering my options, there's a few other factors i've pondered in making my decision.

This may not fit with others trucks, but i figure that if i'm driving in town where there's streetlights and other traffic, my headlights arent doing a whole heck of a lot anyway, so regardless of whether i use my current 25w HID's with 20% smoke vinyl wrap over the headlights, or 35w Morimoto's with the vinyl wrap, or Lasfit, its not going to make much of a difference. Where it actually matters (for me) is when im in areas without streetlights (which is pretty common where i live). I'll use my headlights, but if vision is getting tough, i added the 3 little light bars (like the special ops editions) in my grill. They are 900 lumens per light bar, so its 2700 lumens total which is more than the stock lights already. I also have a rough country bull bar with a 20 inch light bar that puts out 7200 lumens. Regardless of the distance of these lights, if im driving out somewhere and the light isn't reaching out far enough, i've got some other options at the flip of a switch that are currently so bright i cant tell the difference if my headlights are on or off (haha!).

I'll add this though, one of our members @fondupot uploaded the perfect video to YouTube in April comparing the 25w stock HID's, vs 35w aftermarket HID's, vs the 50w Lasfit LED's, and the Lasfit's are much brighter! Check out his video below, and follow him! He's doing some great things! His video was the deciding factor for me.
