Is there any particular, color, style, trim that assignes these trucks to be made in Fort Wayne vs Mexico? I’ve been shopping trucks and can’t seem to peg it down as to what determines if a truck is made here or MX. Perhaps there isn’t any particular specs that causes one to be made here vs MX.

No real rhyme or reason. Crew cab production is split between Ft. Wayne, IN and Silao, MX. Believe double cabs are still 100% USA.

Probably just coincidence but my 2019 3 vin was made in mexico.  It was an LT Z71 Crew cab Texas Edition.

My 2020 RST Z71 was a 1vin.  It's also a crew cab  All Star Edition.  Was a 6.2L vs the 2019 5.3.

I've wondered if it is a regional thing.  Almost all the crew cabs in my area (after the initial launch of the 19's which were first made in Indiana) it seems like are a Silao produced truck.  Seeing a 1 VIN on a lot around here (North Carolina) is very rare.

I’m in CA and have noticed the same thing. Obviously we’re closer to MX than Indiana, but I’m wondering that COVID has played a role too.

Searching inventory....all double cabs that i've found have a 1 and all high country crew standard box 6.2s have a 1.  All of the high country crew shorts are a 3.

Most Crew Cab Standard Boxes seem to come from Ft. Wayne, no matter the trim. Most trucks with the power running boards also seem to be Ft. Wayne built.

My SLT Sierra Crew Short is from Ft. Wayne (January 2019 build date), most other trucks configured like mine seem to be 3 VIN though, except the very early 2018 production models.

That is correct, Double Cabs are all from Ft. Wayne. Regular Cab 1500s are now built in Mexico. Crew Cabs are split.

Crew Cabs are made in both Mexico and the USA, configuration has nothing to do with it.  I found crew cabs in dealer inventory up here in North Michigan that came from Mexico and USA.  I found 2 exact same models (different colors), 1 came from USA and the other Mexico.   Production depends on plant build cycle at the time of order.
