Your response is interesting.  Mine went in twice for making the high pitch sound and both times they said it is "Working as Designed".

 

They would not replace the pads.  Mind you this is the same dealership that, after paying for oil change services, never put grease in the 9 fittings.  I had to have another shop do that.  Drove over 20k miles without apparently no grease in the fittings from the factory (new).  Now with the repeated P0106 error at 38k miles and replacing the MAS sensor and still comes back on every 5 days, I am wondering if I truly own a lemon.  Especially with the $135 diagnostic fee I paid when it was under 36k miles for them to tell me that the trailing brakes going in and out is a "Problem, but best of luck." - which is still a problem.

there is a TSB for this issue. Apparently the early build trucks have an improper spec'd pad. they replace pads at all 4 wheels

No. It’s intermittent also. It happens the most when coming to a stop at low speeds <10mph and it always happens in a drive thru.

So much like everyone else had the first set replaced at 8700 miles now i can start to hear a squeak again less than 1k later... anyone got aftermarket that works? If not ive been a GM guy forever but I WONT hesitate to make it my last. Ill trade it in fast for a 90s model GMT400. I got 2 of them with Duralast brakes that don't squeak for god sakes

On a 3500 drw, a trick that has worked for me, was to remove the pads and grind a 45 degree bevel, about 1/4 inch wide on the outside edge of the pads. It is that 90 degree angle where the pad hits the rotor that creates the squeal, the squeal will be gone until the pads wear the bevel away, then repeat the mod or replace pads.

GM has told me since they replaced my brakes twice now and it is squealing again, they will NOT fix it again.

I had the same issue with my 2020 HD. Dealership replaced mine around 32K and after a couple hundred miles it started doing the same thing. Recently the dealership contacted me and said there is now a new part number for the pads and they replaced them again. At this point I had about 48K miles on them and I was willing to pay for them to be replaced but they took care of it. Happy to say I have driven about 3K miles now with no squeaks.

Do you have the updated part number?

I looked at the invoice and it is written.

1   85149489  (S) PAD KIT

1   86788820 PAD KIT

 

Not sure if this is what your looking for.
I would assume any GM  dealer in the know would be able to pull the new part numbers. Good Luck

I submitted the repair request (My 3rd one I think, maybe 4th now) and GM said sorry I am now out of warranty and refused to cover it with the dealer. Mind you, they have already replaced my brakes MULTIPLE times under warranty following each TSB and update and it did not solve the issue. This new find is the last chance and they say, sorry, we know your brakes are still 98% but we are not covering it. I have had enough of GM. First my Front Differential blows up TWO times and brakes have multiple fixes and still suck and I am told to just deal with it? I don’t think so bozos.

So now you'll jump ship over a $100 set of pads?

 

Seems cheaper to do that than replace the truck. Get mad all you want at GM for not doing more but the cheap fix is still an option.

      Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!

      From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

      Recently acquired new 2026 Silv. 1500 WT  - L3B + 4WD,  std cab + std bed, in (duh!) Sierra White. Upgrades: replaced 'steelies' w/  Vision "Flow" black alloys,  17x8.5"; HDX nerf bar w/steps (black powdercoat); Weatherguard large/deep alloy saddle toolbox; Michelin fitted bedmat (sale, perfect fit) Weathertech door sill guards TBD: rear wheebox liners 4x black fender arch trim - searching for best  (Putco: chrome only; not looking for flares either!) -Bill

      True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.

      I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
