Hey everyone, we noticed this question comes up a lot, so we finally put together one master cheat sheet. It covers the exact oil capacity, filter numbers, and drain plug torques for every GM truck and SUV from 2016 through 2026. Bookmark the full guide here so you never have to guess again: https://www.gm-trucks.com/gm-engine-oil-capacity-guide/

Hi all,

I have a 2019 new design model with a 5.3L DFM Silverado. Wanting to do the oil change myself and needing torque spec on the oil drain plug. Thanks in advance.

i don't have the exact specs however for my ZL1 its 18ft/lb most oil drain plugs are typically in range form 15+ ft/lb. just don't over do it you will be fine, as long as it is on there good and snug by your arm torque meter with standard length wrench. remember the longer the wrench the more torque you can apply than with shorter wrench with the same precieved force

For my truck, they are:

Transmission 25 ft/lbs 16mm socket Dex-VI
Rear axle: 24ft/lbs 15mm 75w90syn
Front axle: 24 ft/lbs 15mm 75w90syn
Transfer case: 15 ft/lbs 18mm Dex-III
Oil pan: 18 ft/lbs 15mm 5w30syn

New trucks are likely in the same range.
