2019 6.2 Silverado. 44k miles. Driving on and off all day yesterday then when I left for dinner no power steering. Warning came up on my dash indicating power steering malfunction along with ecs warning. I can't remember  the exact verbiage.  I cycled the power several time with no change. Since people were waiting on us I drove to our destination in that condition and it was difficult to drive to say the least. Luckily we were in a rural area and didn't have far to go but man was I worried about the 120 mile drive home today. After eating dinner I went out and popped the hood to see if it was something physical. Everthing looked good.  Started the truck and everything was back to normal. Been fine all day today. Calling the dealer Monday morning. To think even the most basic systems on these vehicles depend on a computer is sobering. Anything can just quit working out of the blue then work again! ?

If you think the computer running the power steering is scary, the one doing the braking system is even worse. My neighbor’s fence almost learned that the hard way. 😬

I’m sure they will pull codes and check for updates, don’t ever remember getting one for steering on my 2019 though. Unfortunately/ fortunately a lot of these glitches come and then go just as quickly. And usually never appear again.

the power steering is weak on the 12volt system

it was not working because it overheated    (self resetting thermal fuse)

That doesn't seem possible unless something is broken. This truck has been through two summers and this just happened parked on snow after driving in cold weather. Dealer suggested waiting on diagnosis since its out of warranty and they were not confident in figuring it out unless I bring it in while broken. At least they are trying to save me money.

it was recalled due to low voltage   low voltage can overheat wires easy

maybe you should have your battery load tested  that would be a good place to start...

also don't forget to file a complaint with the NHTSA

Mine was a broken ground strap between the chassis and body located behind the passenger front wheel ( behind wheel house cover).  They just issued a recall for it
