I have a 2016 Silverado LT Z71 double cab with 47,000 miles.  Great truck.  Excellent condition.  I have the truck for two years now.  I am the second owner.  I like my truck.

Last October I put new tires.  Also I put a Corsa Cat back system and blistein shocks.  Also I put a new center console last December (sold the jump seat)

Currently I am waiting for a custom tune from Diablew to disable the AFM.

So.   I was playing with Carvana and Vroom websites this weekend and Vroom is offering me 32,200 for my truck.  I think is a good deal.  To replace my truck  I  found two (one hour away and one four hours away) is a 2020 Silverado RST double cab.  Dealer demo.  I can get a good deal but I don know what to do there is nothing wrong with my truck other than is 5 years old.

Here is the info of the new ones:

Personally, I do not like the design of the newer generation.  Also, if I were trying to justify trading my truck, that'd tell me that I should probably keep it.

If it were me, I'd keep what you have, especially haven replaced/upgraded what you've mentioned.

It depends on your needs and financial situation. Does your truck meet your needs for hauling people and cargo? Is your truck paid off? Are you willing to start over with payments? My 16 meets my needs and has low mileage. We also were due to replace the wife's ride last year, so we'll be hanging onto mine for a while.

If paid off I would keep it esp with the upgrades you have done and the low mileage you have.

Soooo much life left in it and the currently unstable economic outlook.

I traded out of a 2018 Silverado Crew LT into a 2020 Silverado Crew LT because the 2018 had recurring electrical issues starting at 243 miles when it got towed in the first time. The last time it got towed in was just that for me. It turned out to be the ECM but I had lost faith in the truck.

5.3, 6 speed, 3.42 rear end on the 2018. 5.3, 8 speed, 3.23 on the 2020.

The 2018 had the trans flush early on and that ended the tranny problems.  The 2020 8 speed is flawless at 11,500 miles.

In the 2018 I had swapped in the center console, DL3 mirrors, and wireless charging with harnesses from HarnessDr.com. I miss the power fold mirrors with turn signals and puddle lights and the console. I hope to find a console for the 2020 and make will make that swap when I find one. Mirrors are going to be a challenge.

The 2018 had better seats, idled at 500 RPM's smooth as a sewing machine, and pulled better from idle with the lower gears.

I had some health issues that took precedence at the time I traded and inventory was as bad then as it is now so I didn't have much time or choice to make the decision to trade.

The 2018 would have been my last new truck if I had any faith in it being repaired for good. I miss the upgrades I did to it, the seat comfort, and the idle.

Hopefully the 2020 will be the last new truck I buy and maybe the electrical gremlins stay away since it has so many more gadgets. I've gotten up to 24.4 MPG in the 2020 and just about have the seat dialed in. I like the new body style especially after de-badging it. The fenders look soooo much better without those big blocky letters on them ! The HD rear camera with trailer assist is leaps and bounds better than the camera in the 2018. It doesn't blind me in the cab at night and the extra back-up lights I added don't wash it out. Homelink is nice for the garage door opener.

The crazy trade in offers have also caught my eye, even on my 2020 the offers are crazy since there is so little inventory.

If I had to make the choice between a reliable K platform and trading to a T platform knowing what I know now, It would be a damn hard choice, but I am pretty sure I would go with the K platform.

Not to sound like too much of a ButtHole, but it is your truck and money to spend as you feel best suite's your needs and desires.

Drive a new T1, see how you like it compared to yours. Go with your gut feeling, then don't worry about which way you decide.

Everyone has different lifestyles and some like holding on to a vehicle for 10+ years and others like having a payment.

Personally I wouldn’t do it because you are essentially gonna pay 15k OTD not including any interest, if applicable.

In 5 years these trucks will probably be within $5k of each other on the used market.  On top of that the market may be back to normal and you might pick up a brand new truck for under $40k after incentives.  2019 crew cabs were at one time $37k pre-COVID.

Not to mention you’ll probably go spend money on accessories like another exhaust, and probably miss having the HID’s at night.

Someone could offer me 37k which is what I paid before tax and I’d say no because I can’t get the same truck for less.  Sad part it’s possible since it just hit 16k this week.

Yep! Right before I had to drop my truck off for yet another upgrade (new wheels), I got a call from the dealership telling me I could upgrade to a newer model with great financing!
I told them I already have (at the time, 8K of upgrades) and, if they could match putting me in a new truck, as I have mine set up, I would think about it.
The reply was, basically, never mind.
If my truck was bone stock, I'd have thought about it a little more.

I empathize with your dilemma and the decision rests with you.  Either way you'll have a nice truck.   The practical me says keep your current truck.  The rest of me gets enthusiastic about the prospect of a new truck.  (Red trucks always catch my attention with black a close second!)  However, there are so many variables in our personal lives that inform such a decision.  My opinion is of little use.  I can offer advice though from first-hand experience:  If you're married, be sure your spouse is on board with "your" decision and that her/his agreement isn't simply to stop you from whining!   You'll pay more than the dollar difference...

Two schools of thought in my mind. Depending on the miles driven a year and the amount owed. With new truck shortages trade ins never been higher. If you’re getting enough the length of your lone doesn’t change and the payments maybe increase a little go for it. Just after I bought my 2014 GMC I was offered a surprise buy out of my partnership and retired. I always buy deals. I didn’t need a new pickup anymore, I had an old one. 18 months after buying the 14. I bought a leftover 15 SUV at a deep discount. My loan amount and time stayed the same. Two years later Toyota was redesigning the Camry and was offering insane discounts on the previous models. I did raise the payment some and paid it off by the original 72 months of the 14 GMC. My daughter drives the Camry now with low miles. The original 2014 would have had 3 times the mileage. Granted buying the Camry helped keeping the overall cost low. If you really want to benefit of the high resale value of trucks and SUVs. Buying something not in high demand will make a difference. Being retired and finding a past favorite 20 year old truck. Making the sacrifice to drive a car 😀 worth it.

Thank all your for the comments an opinions.  Vroom update their offer they are offering $32,600.00 I have two days to accept.  So I know if I accept the offer maybe the new trucks will be sold.  My local Chevy dealer is empty they only have two trucks.

I have good money on the modifications maybe I will get back most of the money with the price that they are offering.

My truck is out of the factory warranty, I have one year on the Certified Powertrain warranty.  I am worried about the transmission and the lifters.  I have an extended warranty.

I like my truck a lot.  Looks and runs great still looks new.  Some people think that my truck is new.  I like to take care of my vehicles.

Yes, the new ones are nice, but the reason i don't buy a 2019 couple years ago is because I don't like the new AFM system and the engine shut-off feature.

So I decide to keep my truck, and keep putting new mods.  Maybe wait until they have bigger rebates.  This situation will pass and everything will be back to normal.

Thanks again.

Congratulations on your decision!  Now you can keep shopping!   BTW  I met a guy at the gas station yesterday with the same truck and colour as mine.  He complimented me on my great looking truck and I did the same for him.  These are really nice trucks and sometimes we just need a little reminder.

Yes,  I agree.  I have a lot compliments on my truck.  The Tungsten Metallic Color looks great.  My truck is like a car I never use the bed. But when you need to move something is there.

This truck is my daily driver, I drive an average of 8000 miles a year, is why the truck looks new.  My wife drives a 2017 Suburban and we use that vehicle to go on vacations (before Covid).  The Suburban also have low miles. I have decided to keep both vehicles until they die.  My wife loves the Suburban.  There are very comfortable vehicles.
