Never really noticed this before, not sure if this is normal for GM but my 2021 silverado seems to be missing paint.  I'm used to ford and every nook and cranny is painted, but my silverado seems to missing paint in hidden places.

Yep.  Normal.  Even Corvettes and Camaros and Cadillacs you can find this type of stuff.

You get the same crappy paint job on a $120K Corvette as a $20K Sonic.

Yeah that is probably normal nowadays. The factory can't be perfect for everything

They could.

They use to.

They just found out cheating people out of their hard earned is easy when EVERYONE is doing it.

😱

Use to be a saying that a Pontiac was a Chevy with lock washers.

All vehicles are painted using electrostatic equipment and the paint will not get into areas such as the stake pockets.

However all areas that are exposed will be covered. The truck bodies also get totally immersed into a rust proofing bath

where every nook and cranny does get coated. The same process is used by every manufacturer so I would expect

every vehicle to have the same results not just GM

At least yours is in hidden places. I have a spot on the drivers door above the mirror without paint. Don’t worry. GM knows about it.  About 2 weeks after I got my truck I got an email from the VP of Quality Control asking about several issues. Poor paint was one, so they know. Bad thing is they don’t do anything about it. Also asked about phone connection issues, CarPlay and Bluetooth. I have those issues as well and they haven’t been able to fix. Nor do they seem to care. I have driven nothing but GM trucks since the 70s. Think this one will be the last.

Yeah it kind of surprised me, I switched from f150 and if it is painted the same way, apparently their robots do a much better job.  Not long after making this thread my wife decided to side swipe a mailbox turning out of a driveway so now the side of the truck gets new doors and fresh paint, maybe I'll luck out and they will spray those areas lol.

I was gonna say watch a video of the factory assembly line, paint booth and prepare to be a amazed how little paint is actually used.  My mustang C pillar passenger side was primer and some spitting of white paint covered in clear. Crazy that it made it through inspection.
