I know some folks who ordered AVS shields by model and paint code and they don't fit or color match. Not sure about Weather Tech or the others.

Clear paint protection film (PPF) would be much classier on a Denali.

I don't get why they are still called bug shields. Aren't they just for protecting the paint on the edge of the hood?

I'd second the PPF. I kinda wish I would have installed that when mine was new. Now my leading edge is full of little paint chips. GM uses the thinnest coat of paint possible to hold its color.

What are future plans with the truck though, if it's just a daily driver ,I'm sure it would be fine, but if the Denali is known for that issue wouldn't hurt to be proactive. Seems like AVS has quite a few that would compliment the front end of your truck too.

It has nothing to do with the EPA.  It's purely on GM for using the cheapest, thinnest paint they can get away with.  GM got smart and added the rock chip paint at the bottom of the fenders.  Now they need to put something more resilient on the fronts where rock chips happen frequently.

I would agree except its not just GM that has this paint issue.  Its most all of the major US automakers.  They are all painting thin because cutting costs, weight and EPA regulations (which have changed paint composition over the years).

The EPA made everybody switch to non-hazardous paints.  They didn't make them paint it thinner.  That's on the OEMs.

I put an AVS aero skin on my truck and wife’s new Traverse. Love them. They lay flat into the hood instead of sticking up like a bug shield. It Protects the front edge of the hood. I like it too because it gives it alittle different look as well.

Yeah non-hazardous paint is thinner...

Yeah right. The EPA made GM use crappy paint and told them they could only use one coat. Lol.

What’s the EPA requirement for orange peel?  Because this is the first truck I’ve had in a while that doesn’t have any. But It’s my third truck with this new environmentally friendly paint. GM might not be in compliance.

Nothing.  Just like paint quality and thickness.
