Hello Members its been years since I've been active.  My Tahoe will be due for a trans rebuild soon and any recommendations for a shop in the Dallas area would be greatly appreciated.  I did a search and didn't find results.  Thank you kindly.

I would buy a rebuilt transmission on eBay, and then call every shop in town to see who will install it the cheapest. Shipping the trans directly to the shop will lower the freight. Tell them you want new OEM or aftermarket transmission coolers and a new torque converter as well. MAKE SURE that what ever happens, that you get a magnetic drain plug installed in the trans pan. You can use an aftermarket pan, or have one installed on the OEM pan. It will make servicing the trans much easier. Then, since it s a new trans - I would drop the trans drain plug every 2nd or 3rd oil change, and refill. It wont change all the fluid but it will add some fresh stuff a few times per year. I bet that trans would last longer than most.

P.S. couldn't hurt to toss a couple extra magnets into the pan while your there.

I've had personal experience with Eagle Transmission, eagle transmission 1000 Lupo Dr, Dallas Tx. I had my trans go out while driving through Dallas about a year ago.

Their reviews are very good & the manager (Scott Richardson) is a former GM Service Manager & a decent guy.

I've put a lot of miles on it since & I've had no problems.

If you can get it down south I know a good shop in the Austin/SanAnt/Houston areas. Don't know any up in DFW though

Going to refresh this thread as I've yet to get the trans re-build done.  Any transmission guys on here to help guide me with good performance parts list to arm me for conversations with trans shops?  TC, clutch packs, spring kits or full rebuild kit you'd recommend?  I may buy a performance parts kits to provide to the shop or any info to help influence the shop toward a quality re-build kit would be appreciated.  Again its a 6L80 behind a supercharged 5.3.

Richard at Precision Transmissions shows you what parts he uses in his videos.  Trans-Go and Sonnax make some excellent parts.  The youtube site has been renamed because of a rift between son and father:

i see, trent got a wife now.. who's making the decisions there eh? lol

His dad made a comment in one video that he wasn't sure why Trent took off work with a little arm injury.  Richard goes to work no matter what, Trent is not like that it seems.
