Lifter failure on the T1-platform trucks and SUVs with the DFM-equipped L84 5.3 and L87 6.2 V8s has been a common topic, but I'd like to take a poll and gather some real data from a sample group of owners. No need to comment with mileage or anything, just a Yes or No answer will suffice.

This polll is not going to be accurate because guys come here when they have problems. Not many come on here and rave about their truck.

The real failure rate is probably around 1%.

That's 10,000 trucks per million.

Everything gets blown out of proportion here IMO.

Yeah, it's hard to get accurate numbers without hacking into GM's dealer network probably (haha). I figured it would be worth a shot, though, as ours failed so early at 585 miles and I've been curious.

My '19 L84 had almost 50,000 miles on it without any issues when I traded it in. However, it seems to issues are more common in the '20 and '21 trucks for whatever reason (bad batch of parts?).

Yup,  last month happen to me 21 high country 6.2l,  14k miles,  2 lifters went on the passenger side of the block

I have a 2021 High Country with 7k miles, My truck falls in the bad batch lifters. So far no problems, but I wonder if it's just a matter of time before they give, this issue is driving me crazy!

EI'm sure it's way higher than 1 percent.  The chevy dealer I bought mine from said they had half a dozen silverados in front of me for repair. The problem is so bad the dealer and General Motors absolutely refused to give me a loner vehicle because of there were more needing repairs than they had loaner. They didn't even have a shuttle to give me a ride home. After emailing GM a d dealer owner on this uber ride home, asking for a vehicle to get to work. Dealer again said way to many trucks with lifter failures to provide rental to them all. GM wouldn't even respond to my email. So after buying 7 GM vehicles I'm will never spend a dollar on the brand again. The new GM is all about big bonus for Mary and her Friends and dividends on the stock holders. The couldn't even send a free email to a customer that bought a 51k truck....   also I know most hate facts and truths, but their are Magazines out their saying the failure rate is over 4% per year on these motors. I was a chevy fan, these junk motors are why I'm not anymore. There is a problem...
