I paid 5900$ for my really clean under 170K mile avalanche almost 3 years ago. For grins I did a search for 10K used trucks. Nothing I would trade for. In reality being retired the maverick or Santa cruise are the only ones I would consider new. Without driving one of those I don’t know if I could live with a smaller truck. My avalanche is probably my last truck.

You and me both!  I’d jump on it if new trucks weren’t so much more than I paid as well.

"Therein lies the rub" as they say. If you have to buy into the same market, you're selling into there is no win. If you can sell and wait for this insanity to break.... 🤔

Well, this is how it looks after one application of Dr Colorchip.  They say it can take several to really do its thing.  It definitely “muted” the damage, and may look better after round 2 or 3.  If it does, I’m just not sure I can spend 1k+ out of pocket to fix it…although it will certainly bother me everyday.  😔

I feel like the Dr. Colorchip did its job and doesn’t look half bad, what do y’all think?

Thanks for all the insight thus far!

Normally you could wet sand and buff the majority of that damage out, however the GM clear thickness in recent years is fairly thin.  I gouged my 18 when it was new by having my snowblower to close to the back door (stupid I know).  I ended up using the paint kit from the dealer and applied, wet sanded, and buffed a couple times and you really can't tell there was any damage there.  It's risky cutting through the clear though.  I've painted cars before so I figured I could fix it if the worst case happened.  A body shop will base color the damaged area and clear the whole quarter panel to get it to look right.
