Sliding vane pumps make noise. :(

I know I know.  The only piece of the puzzle I'm missing is why it didn't make a peep before my first oil change?  That's what bothers me.  I'm trying so hard to figure that out and I keep coming up with nothing.

How much does this noise bother you?

Switching to a 100% synthetic oil like Amsoil or Redline would make it quieter IMO.

It may be that a pressure-filling system of some kind they use at the factory clears a bubble that aggravates the drainback characteristic once you do a drain and gravity fill.  There’s not much we can do as diy maintainers other than pre-filling the filter when you replace it. Slight differences in viscosity aren’t likely to eliminate the issue. I don’t think this needs to be your primary selection criterion for the oil you use.

It’s very easy to pre fill the filter on this truck. I filled mine about half way before screwing it’s back in. Can’t hurt.

the manual for our kohler powered mower specifically says to pre fill the oil filter.

4200 HARD miles on my 2024 and zero consumption. I check every week or so and nada.

Also had over 32k on my 2021 6.6 and zero consumption. Harsh towing for those miles as well.

I read that article not too long ago.  I think it's very cool although there is no way in hell I would pay the premium for one.  But it is very cool!!

CORRECT! (Super Charger) Ouch $

Trifecta has been working on Cracking ECU and HP Tuners I think is working with Trifecta Performance.

I Can see Tuning Doable, and Exhaust.

Back on topic.

2024 GMC 2500HD AT4 w/ 6.6L L8T.  Only 4300 miles, so still early...so far I'm happy to report no oil consumption.  Really enjoying the L8T w/ 10 speed 'Allison'.  Nice smooth and refined drivetrain.  Definitely quieter, smoother with more refined shifts vs the Ford 7.3L w/ 10R140 (I've owned both).

I have since traded the truck in I originally started this thread about but I'm convinced it was probably something like the PCV system acting up because it was only going through oil for about a month and then it stopped and never came back.
