So was coming back towing a trailer from texas and i noticed the truck acting a little dif but was not sure about anything...got home that night and went to bed..next morning i went to disconnect the new trailer and i noticed fluid down the side of it...looked under the truck and saw fluid all over the place...traced it to the front end...took it to the dealership the next day and they still have it.  we are starting week 4 of them having the truck and I am told they are waiting on a bearing in the front dif to get the work done.  What I was told is one of the seals leaked all the fluid out and burned up everything in the front dif...This soooooooo sucks to have my work truck down for already a solid 3 weeks and they do not offer me another diesel...This truck is my work truck...not a garage queen...has 14k miles on it.  They are so terrible in living up to their part of this deal...bad enough this happened but I was told last year they would get my parking sensors up and running in the 4th quarter of the year...well we are here in april and they have not done that either...such a crap experience with a 96k dollar truck buy

Sorry to hear of this and the experience with the dealer and the unacceptable wait for parts. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

I can't believe they wouldn't replace the diff, instead of rebuilding. But maybe it would take twice as long waiting on it, compared to just a bearing.

Started on the 6 month of waiting for a wiring harness for my downed truck and planting season is upon us.

i get it...i was told ring and pinion is being replaced and i am assuming all the other parts inside the dif...i would think it would be easier to just install a complete assembly..who knows

I had the same exact issue with that seal pulling away from the differential.  Took about 4 weeks from when I dropped it off.  They ended up replacing the entire front end.

What was the first sign? Was it leaking on the ground?

No.  Same as you.  I was towing my travel trailer and when I got to the campground, could smell the gear oil, and it was all over the bottom of the truck and front of the trailer.  Traced it to that seal on the drivers side.  May have heard a clunk early in our trip, but not positive that was it.  No other warning.

Man that sucks.  Hope they get your truck fixed right and back to you ASAP.  Some of these failures really are ridiculous, quality control obviously isn't working.

96k, you didn't spend enough to have the trouble-free version or the repaired in the same week option. Not sure what the amount you paid has to do with it, does that mean you are entitled to a higher priority than someone who spent 50k on their truck? It sucks but times aren't how they used to be. Every company is hurting for people, parts, transportation, etc. It is going to take a while sometimes to get replacement parts and it sucks even more when it is a major part that doesn't allow it to be driven. But these are mechanical items with thousands of parts assembled by people and machines, as things get more complicated more tends to go wrong. Best of luck, if it was a good dealer they should have had some type of back up or paid for a similar rental for the business to keep running.

Alot of people think that way, they think just because they paid a ton of money on a truck that it should get a better trouble-free vehicle. Their truck is no different from a base model truck all it means is that got more options.

both of you are sooooo missing the point...we are living in a time we are getting raped in pricing...I looked up gm profits last year and they are in the billions...BILLIONS!!!!  they are not hurting...they and many other companies are just taking advantage of people...the least they can do it take care of what they built...there is ZERO reason it should take 5 weeks to fix a truck...they could have gone to the assembly line parts and grabbed what was needed and sent to get it fixed all within 2 weeks.  You pay a premium the least you expect is to be taken care of when it is needed...The vast majority of people who buy these trucks are people who actually use them in a work environment...This truck is a business tool...a business piece of equipment...They have no right to take my business down for 5 weeks because of excuses...They not hurting...it is called greed...if they wanted to take care of their customers they could have handled this right away...not give excuses like everyone of us get every single day when we walk into walmart, stop for gas, or just go thru the drive thru...we live in a world of nothing but excuses cuz they can...This crappy service is getting old...so it is not about special service cuz i paid a lot...it about doing whats right in a timely fashion to your customer...everyone one of us(or at least most of us) work hard for ever dollar we get and we want it to go to good use...we are NOT being treated with respect...we are being treated with a whole lot of excuses...

After seeing these threads on diffs, I checked mine this afternoon.  My front is fine, but rear is low enough that I could not even touch it with my pinky.  Totally ridiculous.

    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
