Posting a final update on my build experience through Laura Buick GMC:

I reached out to Laura on 9/22 and placed an order. It took about a week to get the documents and give a deposit. They placed the order 10/19 and the truck was built the week of Thanksgiving and was shipped a week later. It arrived in perfect condition in Collinsville on 12/7 and of course I dropped everything and went to pick it up on 12/8.

Will be interesting, I have an order for a Double Cab Dually that the factory picked up a couple days ago.

We're in the same boat, well sort of. mine is a catamaran.

Everything about ordering a Chevy and GMC has been great for me. I ordered a 3500 high country in late June and it came in early September. Another dealer ordered one in my name and it came in the same day. I had ordered a GMC Denali ultimate thru a fleet plan at same time. Didn't take the 2 Chevys due to dealer shenanigans but am picking up the GMC tomorrow. Meanwhile, it's been over a year waiting on a Ford and counting. GM has been quick and communicating very well. Ford has been just the opposite- no communicating at all.

My experience, and also talking to my salesman, is that they are turning out the HD orders in 8-9 weeks from allocation date.

Ordered AT4 HD Oct 5, built Dec 3. Sales guy called the day after Christmas and said that my truck was on its way and should arrive by end of the week. Swapped over my winter wheels/snow tires with the GMC wheels/Duratracs that day that I use for summer. Emptied the rest of the stuff from my truck including a home made box I've used in front of the bench seat to hold stuff including a cell phone holder mounted to the box. This is the third truck I've used the box in SLE 1500's.

Stopped at the dealer at the end of the week to order running boards. Now the dealer is not sure where the truck is located. Update this past Saturday is that it didn't ship yet and now set to arrive Jan 14 to 16. Not happy. I live in Vermont and run true snow tires from mid-October to mid-April. The Duratracs should be ok if we get snow but my truck is stripped. Not plan on going far for now. I put the box back in, only takes a minute, so I can have a cell phone holder.

Long story short, original order for a Z71 Sport placed January 2022 for a 22MY, Chevy couldnt build due to restrictions.  2022 order got cancelled by GM and I re-ordered a 2023.  Chevy couldnt build due to restrictions.  Got frustrated and threw in the towel for a bit.  Ordered a 2024 Z71 Sport on October 6, 2023,  it showed up at the dealer 11/30 and I took delivery 12/7.  The price increases sucked, but the new front end, 10speed and interior were worth the wait.

On a related note, the F350 I ordered in March at the same time as my AT4 HD (which I picked up in June) is finally in production this week. However, it looks like the dealer added the Lariat Ultimate package that I specifically did not want (I confirmed this on the order sheet they gave me as well), which would have been a real bummer if I actually still wanted the truck. Would have sucked to wait a year and have to start all over! I'm guessing the dealer just figured they'd get the extra allocation and then sell it to someone else at a markup when I decided I didn't want it because they screwed up the order.

The ineptitude of some of these people that work at the dealerships is ridiculous. My first '24 I ordered in the Lakeshore Blue couldn't be built in that color because apparently GM didn't have the paint code finalized, although they let me build & order it in that color. Anyway, the guy in charge of the orders didn't call me to let me know that the blue wasn't available yet, instead he took it upon himself to order it in white. He could have taken 5 minutes out of his day to call me & discuss it, but he never. There were other color options I probably would have been satisfied with, but white wasn't one of them. I made them re-order it in blue and was able to get it the way I wanted the second time over, but had to wait an additional 2+ months.

Got a text yesterday from my salesman that my truck was on its way and would probably be delivered by the 20th. Ordered it on October 5th and it showed built on December 13th. So roughly 15 weeks from start to finish.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
