Bonneville, Hill Climb (KTM), Sprint Car (Outlaw), Open wheel road (Monte Carlo Mini), Gymkhana and drag racing, car and motorcycle.  Corvette, Honda, car and motorcycle, Harley Davidson, Royal Enfield (factory consultant, private company design and consult, Four Aces design, and consult for Dan Holmes record holding Bonneville effort), Ford, Chevy Truck. Some I built, some I built and raced myself and a few I consulted for or worked on as a tech. So yea, filmed a few. Bold type are ones I designed and built the entire suspensions, and all, but the truck raced. Brands? LOL King, Fox, KYB. 

 

In this truck. King (custom valve). Deaver (to my spec and have my own part number), Bell Tech, Filthy Motorsport, Hoerr Racing, Energy Suspension. MOOG, Sulastic, Deegan Automotive. 

 

BTW it's antiroll bar not sway bar. Sway is a marketing term.

 

And still, what I know isn't much. What I've done is insignificant. What I share becomes less with ever troll I meet. I'm sure they will will thank you for protecting them from such an evil influence. :crazy:

I did not know that Grumpy, impressive to say the least.  I bet you got some darn good stories too, nothing like being in the pit at a racing venue and it appears that you have been to quite a few, lol.

I ain't all that my friend. Nothing to be impressed. with.

Just not the guy he thought he was hammering.

 

What I've done, for work and for fun is FIX STUFF. Stuff that stumps smart people. Equipment, processes, procedures even ideas. I think it, engineer it, draw it, fabricated it, machine it, weld it, forge it, cast it, assemble it, operate it then write the book on it, train someone else to do it then give it away and forget about it. Move on to the next thing that catches my attention. Call it professional trouble shooter. I just found a way to have fun doing it and make money too. Now I'm old and hate changing my own oil. What have I done for you lately? LOL Nothing. :crackup:He's no one I need to impress.

Great to have people on this forum who know what there talking about. I  have learned alot from many of you. I have worked on cars and trucks for 45 years and I cant stand changing my own oil anymore either!

I am trying, I am doing upgrades constantly and will share my trials and wins, just got a Corsa cat-back to install and might do it today!

Gotta get my 33 Vicky ready for a var show tomorrow as well though

I was a lead tech in another field for 46 yrs. I change my own oil just to have a look around underneath, the tech in me says be proactive. At least it's not every 3k anymore. 

I don't trust anyone assigned to oil changes, not that I enjoy doing it, but I know it's done right and no upsell BS either and money saved will pay for a barley pop to fill the drip out time.

For 40 years I’ve been lucky enough to find people I trusted to work on my vehicles. A couple are even dealers. My experiences have been good. There isn’t anything vehicle related I can’t do. Some I do such as air and cabin filters. I get my tires rotated for free. I don’t hand wash anymore with the exception of the collector car. My latest vehicle needed transmission fluid exchange. It was so simple I did it myself. It was too easy not to, no jacking required. With oil change places I found a good one. Funny that people frown on those. I check their work after the first one. After that you’re a repeat customer, they can’t blame anybody else. And then there’s getting older and risk versus reward comes to play. Jacking up a vehicle, jack stands, it isn’t that easy. Especially in 100 degree heat. I’ll just pay the 20$. With 3 daily drivers they know me at the quick lube place I use. And now I get coupons. It’s even cheaper. If I want to relive my youth there the avalanche, no jacking required.

Body Roll.......The GM 1500 & HD trucks do NOT offer a Rear Say Bar as an option ( Only 3500HD DRW Chassis Cabs I have seen come with them).  I had a '16 2500HD Duramax Denali. was NOT pleased with handling , with a Fiberglass cap, Bed Slide out and my tools.  I found 1-1/2" dia.  Roadmaster Rear Sway bar kits on e-Trailer.com, as well as Firestone 3500 lb. rear air bags, and Bilstien series 5600 shocks.

Installed these and Holy XXXX Batman, drove like it was on rails.  3200 miles later, was in  middle of a multi vehicle pileup .......

Insurance totaled it wit 62k mi. on her. I saved these suspension upgrades to put on Craig's List and e-bay. Will fit a '11 to '18 2500 or 3500 HD.

Awaiting my 2024 2500HD Denali Duramax. Built on May 25 in Flint. Still shows,"In Transit".   FYI : I already have a new Roadmaster Rear Swaybar to put on the '24 when she arrives.

Sounds like the Rancho's on it will be going into my metal re-cycle 55 gal. drum soon. I loved the Bilstien's, but will look into the Eiback, Fox and Ride-Tech by Fox. ( Put Ride-Tech's ['11-'18 GM 3-4 TO 1 TON SUSPENSION UPGRADE.pdf'11-'18 GM 3-4 TO 1 TON SUSPENSION UPGRADE.pdf same as Hotchkiss but much less $$ ]  on my '78 Trans-Am, and are awsome   !! Has 24 way external adjustment valving. ).

I just looked at the Eibach webisite, and did not see listings for GM 1500 or  HD Rear Anti-Roll / Sway Bars. So Hellwig Mfg. is one option ( I have had these for decades on my '73 Dodge Maxi-Van front & rear added, are great), or RoadMaster has several listings for GM HD & 1500 trucks.  I will again add the rear Roadmaster bar to my 2024 HD Duramax when it gets here , as I did on my 2016 HD Duramax. It is a 1-1/2" dia. bar.

They are soft on the highway, almost like riding a magic carpet. But they permit very little body roll and zero pogo effect.

 

Off-road at speed they're great. Slower off-road they're better than stock for sure but the difference isn't as dramatic.

 

Can you run the rear DSSVs on stock (non-ZR2) leaf springs?
