On a GPS, ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) works by calculating the distance to your destination using satellite signals, then dividing that distance by your current speed, factoring in additional variables like traffic conditions, road types, and speed limits to provide an estimated time you will reach your destination; essentially, it's a prediction based on your current location, speed, and the planned route to your destination

Dude. I use my GPS navigation at least twice a month. When I leave my house it’s says I will arrive at 2:30. When I have my wife with me I can add a half an hour because of stops. It will adjust because of those stops or traffic congestion. When I’m by myself I’m usually dead on or early. Is that really that hard for you to grasp? It’s a moving target. The fact that my wife is with me I already know to add a half an hour.

You know that few drive slower than I do. And I've shown I have one of the faster average MPH figures when dividing miles by hours. Pepper stands at 42 mph and change on a national average of about 36 mph per FORD Commercial Services. So a bunch faster. I'm the fastest slow guy most know. 

 

Like you, it's seat time vs speed and seat time wins hands down. Prostrate will slow that a bit as a male ages. 

 

Decades ago I did an "Iron Butt Rally". Motorcycle challenge where win the patch you have to cover 1,000 miles in 24 hours or less. I did 1,056 miles in 22 hours and 6 minutes. Never broke 60 mph EVER for the trip. That is an average of 47.8 mph or 80% of top speed. That is allot of seat time on a bike. It would be fast in a car. Almost brutal on a Harley. Fall of 1977. 6 mph faster than Pepper. Now on that trip I had about a four hour breakdown so my seat time was 18 hours approximately or 55.55 mph or 93% of maximum speed. WHAT? I have NEVER been able to reproduce that ratio. I'll never be that young or that dumb again.

Kansas would have to give its cops tickets. (Citizen's arrest?)  In a former job, I used to be associated with State Troopers, County Sheriffs, and City Police Departments. All of them liked to play that game of staying in the left lane, setting their cruise control for 5 mph under the speed limit, stacking up traffic for miles behind them, and pouncing on anyone brave or dumb enough to pass them.

Just kidding. I'd be the 93 year old driving 60 in a 40mph zone with "I Can't Drive 55" blaring on the stereo while young Officer Bob was writing my ticket.

Here in Mass the state troopers own the left lane, always 70+mph, if you do not move over they will stop you

That’s how it’s supposed to be. Left lane passing only. You’re supposed to match the speed of rear approaching traffic or get out of the way.

I had a neighbor that was a commercial carpet sales representative that had a company issued Silver Ford Crown Vic that he traveled all over NC in. His windows were tinted and he mounted an antenna on the trunk. He said he loved to set his cruise about 3 over the speed limit and ride the right lane. Cars would pile up behind him being afraid to pass him for fear of him being an LEO. He said even LEO's would wave at him when passing. I got a kick out of him telling me the story. May he RIP. 

 

I live in TX now and the left lanes are clearly marked "Left lane for passing only". Most comply but yet there are still morons that do not heed the sign.

I was following a state trooper last night in the right lane doing 50 in a 45. All of the sudden he slows to 30. I’m like WTH. All of the sudden a truck passes really going. Lights on he pulls the guy over. Happy New Year for you.

Out here it amazes me how many think it's 15 over the PSL is okay. I usually run 4-5 over the PSL on interstates and highways and haven't had any issues even when approaching LEO's. In and around town I'm at PSL or within 1-2. In the many small towns here in TX I maintain the PSL.
