I guess the Z71 "skid plates" are for underwear skid marks as they didn't stop a piece of road debris from puncturing the fuel tank in my 2 month old 2025. After the local fire dept unsuccessfully tried some epoxy by shoving into the hole (had to call them as I was leaking in a residential parking garage garage), I stopped the leak with a bar of soap and a coat of JB plastic bond over the top. I know its a temp fix, but I was wondering how bad the soap is for the engine? I doubt I can get it to the dealer before Tuesday, and I need to make a few runs across town.

Last time I looked under my 2020 Trail Boss I didn't see a skid plate on the bottom of the tank.  There's only a heat shield on the passenger side of the tank.  If you want protection get the fuel tank skid plate from AEV that's on the ZR2 Bison.

On a 2025 RST, Z71 isn't the 'skid plate' option.

On 2025 1500 silverado, Z71 is available on some trims

This is for 2025 RST

There is also a skid plate package available on a bunch of trims -- it's an available option on RST

I wonder what the 2025 NZZ skid plates cover?

A tiny bit of soap will probably be fine. I would be more worried about it leaking g again while driving around.

I'm 99.9% sure there isn't a skid plate for the gas tank unless the AEV truck like the ZR2 Bison or AT4X.  Z71 has a thin aluminum plate for the IFS, and plastic plate under the radiator, and a very tiny aluminum plate under the transfer case.  The 0.01% I'm giving for possibly being wrong is that I'm basing my comment on a 2020 Trail Boss that has added the AEV skid plates, whereas the OP is claiming the 2025 Z71 has a gas tank skid plate.  I doubt it, but I've wrong before.

Yes you are right as usual. My 2025 Trail boss has the flimsy aluminum plates below the oil pan and transfer case and the useless cover below the radiator. No skid plate under the fuel tank. Rental is the right move, a temporary patch is no way to fix a fuel leak. You don't want that new truck to burn up when it leaks again.
