Opinion of Christian Bros Shop/ BG Coolant Product

Hello-

 

The price for coolant flush at GM dealers for 21 1500 are about $80-100 more than at Christian Brothers and they use BG cleaner and coolant. Any experience with Christian Brothers Shop and with BG Coolant product?

BG makes some good products.  We use them and they've given us no problems.  Plus if you do all your stuff BG they have a warranty they provide too. 

 

I'd bet the dealer is using BG too just has a higher labor rate and probably a bit more on the product as well.

BG great products. Christian Bros are individually owned franchises. As good as the owner and those he hires.

Jeez, nobody tell my trucks I don't run a cleaner through them when changing the coolant...

i haven't used a cleaner since the days of green coolant , 5 years drain and refill

Before synthetics and fuel injection my father was big on additives. He put STP in everything even in the radiator. In recent times with modern engines, synthetic everything and you add top tier labels. I haven’t used any additional additives. With one exception. I had the opportunity with the CRV to add a product that the dealer backed. Much like BG it was Wynns. By occasionally adding their products you get additional warranty. I have an ex son in-law who did the BG deal with his Toyota truck. He’ll keep the thing until it dies. I had planned to do the same with the CRV. And run their recommended service intervals. What the heck the car didn’t cost me a dime. My mother in law quit driving and gave the thing to my wife. But as ****** happens my daughters Odyssey was needing expensive service and she was driving a lot. We switched. The odyssey had too many miles for the Wynns deal. And does my daughter continue the deal with the CRV? No. Like most people she waits until the minder says service. And she goes to grease monkey. That does the BG deal. If I only knew.

Hello, you got great feedback.  I own a Christian Brothers and use BG products.  The cooling system service products are good, I really like the cleaner...also there is a conditioner that goes with the fresh coolant.  I will say the cleaner is more valuable on older nasty systems and to be properly used the tech should run it hot in the old system before exchange.  The conditioner is good in every application new and old.  FYI BG has a "lifetime protection plan" which will cover cooling system components up to $4k if you qualify for initial mileage and keep doing the service at recommended intervals.  Details are on their web page.

BG has some great products that I've used through the years. Love their engine Pre Lube. They have or had an additive for diffs and gear cases, something like Extreme Pressure Lubricant. Used it prior to synthetics gaining use. Their fuel system cleaner was great as well
