Has anyone noticed the map view randomly changing. I like to use mine in the route-up mode. occasionally mine will change to the north-up mode.

I have quite a bit of time on mine and haven't experienced the map view changing at all. However, I maintain it in the 3 D mode. I will try route up and see if it is stable.

Just got my module in today, will install it over the weekend. Does anyone have pics of the installation process? The instructions seem easy but I don't want to break anything removing plastic trim by the windshield.

Just installed the navi upgrade from Kodiakz, it works great and the install was painless.

As I dont have any good pictures because everything is black, ill describe it for you.

1. Remove the lower glove box (4 t15 screws)

2. Unclip the cables running to the current unit.

3. Slide (the unit doesn’t bolt in, just is help there in a slide) the unit out, and slide the new unit in

4. Remove the passenger side grab handle (2 10mm bolts and 2 clips) then lift the speaker grill up and pull up that dash panel a few inches.

5. Secure the new gps dongle under the dash next to the speaker using some double sided adhesive (I used body molding tape)

6. Run the gps cord down the large gap next to the speaker down to the new module.

7. Plug in the color coded plugs to the module

8. Reinstall the interior components that you removed

9. Start the vehicle and watch the new boot up

10. Enjoy stock navigation!

Note: I had to resync my phones Bluetooth (that must be in the same module) obviously not a big issue, just a heads up.

Just be sure that you either mount the GPS antenna on a metal surface or if sticking it on plastic, stick the metal plate that is included and mount the GPS on the plate with its magnet.

My knowledge of these antennas is that they function optimally when mounted on a metal surface which acts as a ground plane and improves reception.

I'm pretty sure the surface is plastic next to the speaker, and the gps antenna that is provided seamed to have a metal plate (I did not test it, just visual)

But that being said. I have not had any issues with getting signal and I have been keeping the nav screen up when I have been driving around lately.

its really a good system!

Thanks True blue!!! Yeah the back of the gps antenna is not metal Is just a metal like sticker. I'll use double side tape on it!

Installed the module today!!!! Installation was a snap. I took me 20 min. tops. Works great and tracking is flawless. Thanks kodiakz. True Blue and AJ3 thanks for the instructions and tips on insallation!:thumbs::thumbs: . When I paired my phone I noticed that my phone connected to Cadillac insted of Silverado. Not a big deal. Module must have come from a Cadillac.

Just wondering, what about taking your truck in to the dealer recalls and for updates, do you need to take out the NAV or can you just leave it in and take the updates.

I've had that question too and maybe Mr. Kodiakz can advise us. I know that the module is a GM part but just not sure what to tell the service department. I had to take my Colorado in for a replacement key fob and they had to reprogram the truck. I didn't mention the Nav addition and then sweated out starting up my vehicle after they were finished to see if I still had Nav. Fortunately I did so they must not have messed with the HMI module. In the future I was planning to just tell them up front that I purchased a GM HMI module with Nav so don't do anything to my truck that would compromise the program.

For 6 - Instead of running next to the speaker the gps, I ran it up the the passenger side handle bar and stuck on the roof with double sided tape. I hope this gives me a good reception. what does everyone think? The only reason I didn't put it near the speaker was I didn't feel confident in pulling it up. I just didn't think i could get the paneling up right.

The antenna should have a view of the sky that is unobstructed by metal. The roof is metal. The top of the instrument panel is plastic. That is why it is suggested that the antenna be located below the instrument panel cover.

Also be aware that the antenna has a top and a bottom. The bottom is the side with the metal plate. Make sure the metal side of the antenna is on the bottom.

Ill double check, but I have not had an issues so far with reception.

I tried to call XMSirius about getting traffic report added to my navigation and they told me they couldn't because my radio won't receive it. Anyone have any luck having them add it?
