I really hated, like a lot of others, that there was no 4wd light in the dash so I was going to just wire up another led and diode isolate it like what was done here:

But when I took apart the selector knob I discovered the 900's wiring was fairly complicated and adding additional current draw would most likely destroy the control module and the lights were dimmed when dark using a pvm signal so I developed a circuit to drive additional LEDs without damaging the OEM modules. I figured while I was at it I might as well put 2 colors in there so I chose yellow for Auto and red for 4H and 4L

I'm probably going to make this system available through my business with a step by step install DVD. Its about as hard as replacing the gauge faces or a stepper motor. Once it's ready I'll become a forum sponsor to sell them.

What do you guys think about the color choices (yellow vs red, not the color hue, that'll be fixed with the LEDs I have on order).

Also, is there someone in the SF bay area that would want a free one that I could film the install dvd on? I want a virgin truck, mine has reminants of my various prototype iterations.

I'm Ready. Where do I send the money? Take PayPal? Let us all know when you're ready. You will sell quite a few right from the start.

The light may be cool, but something really useful would be a lockout device on that stupidly designed round rotating knob.

It seems that GM hired an interior decorator to design the dash and controls. Particularly rediculous in terms of human factors design is the round 4 wd knob that is identical in shape, tactile feel, and function to the headlight knob right next to it. I don't know how many of you have intended to turn on the headlights or turn them off and inadvertantly run the transfercase thru the modes. I've done it several times. Luckily, it was at parking lot speeds.

The 4 wd knob needs a lockout that requires two actions to change the transfercase mode.

What makes some trucks have the selector switch on the left side of the steering column? Mine is on the right side, thus I have no issues with it and the head light knob.

I would be interested as well, but will definitely not pay $90 for it. I'm more apt to purchase the necessary components myself and do the work.

Any truck with the "Luxury" dash has the 4wd switch on the LH side next to the headlight switch,This includes the SLT/LTZ trim level trucks, the GMC "All-Terrain" trucks, and all SUV's.

90 bucks for that? No way in hell.

Then you don't get to play with the rest of us
