Pics Of The New Truck, And A Goodbye To The Dmax

Here's my new truck. Picked it up Tuesday, so far I like it, but the 900 is missing a few things that I liked in the 800. I used some NXT tech wax 2.0 to seal it yesterday morning, the pictures out in the grass are after I got done with that. The parking lot pics are the day after I picked it up, and the dealership clean up crew had washed it with brushes and started some minor swirling that had to be addressed :thumbs:

 

2011 Silverado LT Z71 4x4, Blue Granite Metallic. Z71 appearance package, leather, convenience package, Z71 package, and a few other minor things, have to go get my sticker for full details haha.

 

Heres what I did to it in the first week:

Line-X over the rails

Line-X'd my cam-locker toolbox (awesome toolbox if you've never heard of them)

Tinted my windows

Undercoated the rear fender wells

Weather Tech over the hump digital fit liners, and full back liner

hard wired my radar detector in

 

My leveling kit should be here tomorrow, and I've got a line on some 295 duratracs if I can figure out how to get rid of my stockers with less than 100 miles.

 

may end up tinting the tails/3rd brake, debadging the truck and blacking the bow ties, not sure yet.

and finally, my old Dmax, it will be sorely missed. Loved the power that thing had. Just don't need a diesel.

beautiful truck best of luck with it. That color is sharp. is it a 5.3 or 6.2? i'm assuming 5.3 because you mentioned about missing the power of the Dmax? If so was there any reason you didn't look at the 6.2?

I assumed he meant "will miss the torque of the Dmax".

I went with the 5.3 because I don't need the power of the 6.2, not to mention very few dealers in our area order the 6.2 to begin with. I thought about ordering one, but this truck had everything I wanted, and was one of the three colors I prefered the others being white or red.

 

 

The Dmax was sweet, but the warranty was going to go soon (only had 50k miles on it, but time was running out). Not to mention, I was kind of ready for a new truck. I miss the power most, I had a PPE tuner (which is for sale btw) and that thing would add up to 425/650 torque over stock. The truck was so fast, I always loved hitting the pedal and hearing the turbo spool up, the 5" turbo back exhaust roar, and the tires being punished.

 

I'll buy the half ton diesel if it ever comes out, but the 3/4 ton is a whole lot of truck and a pain in the ass sometimes in tight spots in town if you don't need it.

 

When the dealership offered me almost what I payed for it to begin with three years ago, and gave me some heavy rebates and price off the new truck, it made it an easy decision.

 

Not to mention the black paint on the dmax was driving me CRAZY trying to keep it looking good, and the plastic trim pieces on the outside were hard to keep up as well.

 

 

Either way, I'll miss the old truck a lot, but there are plenty of things about it I won't miss. (100$+ oil changes, premature tire wear, fuel filters every other oil change, the 70$ air filter, no remote start, etc..)

 

though the two biggest things I miss from it thus far besides the power is the heated seats, and the sunglasses cubby on the roof!

I can see why it would be hard to get rid of the D-Max, but your new truck is really sharp. You've gotten a great start on making it your own with a few modifications. Congrats on the purchase, and keep us posted when you get the level and tires installed! :thumbs:

I gotta say i love the look of the old one better tho! :thumbs:

 

Are you selling any of the lights or anything off the old one? I'm 2 sets of lights short of your old one, and i want more, lol.
