Hyundai Shows America How It's Properly Done

5.0L

V8

429HP

376LB-FT of torque

All of that in a large RWD sedan that will get 26MPG on the highway...which is more than the same car with the 4.6L V8.

And here I thought a V8/RWD sedan couldn't be efficient...

The mid-90s Caprice/Impala/Roadmaster/wagons were V8 RWD and got mid 20s highway they had the bastard child LT1 which is just some minor tweaks on a gen 1 engine. Granted they were only 260hp 330tq but the LS series engines could have given a boost to power without hurting economy. I have a heavily modified 96 Caprice sedan, still an LT1 naturally aspirated. Based on 116mph in the quarter mile and the weight it is somewhere up in the 500hp neighborhood and with 3800stall converter and 4.10s out back I still get up around 19mpg highway. That is a hotrod I am not after economy. If a dumb carpenter in WI can do this what could GM do if they simply CHOSE to.

how long will the motor last in that indian piece of crap? hyundai is not know for having long lasting motors...specially the tiburons

Hyundai's come a long ways. We have a 2009 Santa Fe 3.3L AWD and I LOVE it. I prefer driving it over my truck after it snows then my truck. The damn thing is amazing.

You have got to be kidding me. My mother has an 08 Santa Fe with the V-6 and the thing is slower than my old 85 Nissan Stanza I had in High School! And that was a 4-cylinder automatic! There is nothing nice about the Santa Fe. It has a butt ugly rear end that is a rip off of that Nissan Murono whatever it is, and it is very uncomfortable for a 6'2" tall person. Please. Hyundai and Kia are notorious for copying the designs of other vehicles. (Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, just to name a few.) Those two auto makers may be selling alot of autos here in America, but they are so cheap and unreliable I anticipate the resale value to continue to drop like they are on those brands.

I had a Fully loaded 06 Sonata for 33k miles.. zero problems bud, had the ole grandma car upto 144mph before I ran outta road, there traction control actually has an off switch.. unlike some GM crap out there, zero problems, only reason i got rid of it is cause some blonde bimbo decided to make a left hand turn at a stop light when she had the red.. And oh yea.. Car was designed perfectly to take the impact too. 45mph head on collision and not a wrinkle in the sheet metal from the doors back

These people should learn from the corvette. Putting an efficient v8 in a car will net great mileage and it'll be fun to drive. People that do lsx swaps in thirdgens and monte carlo's net 20-25 mpg, no problem.

Your full of it. They are limited at 120 MPH not to mention the fact that the engine does not produce enough HP to get it up to 140.

You need to do some fact checking. 2006 was the first year for the NF Sonata and it had no limiter other than the engine itself and someone proved this is a very public way. link I was still at Hyundai when this happened and that story went through our dealer and every other Hyundai dealer like wildfire.

Hyundai is changing the way they do business and doing a fine job by the way. Has anyone drove a Genesis coupe? Fast little car, especially on a road course.

GM has alot to learn from the little guys, that is where inovation has always come from look at your history books baby.

And if it was so great you would have bought another one.
