Nht Ride Vs. Z71?

Folks with the NHT trucks who've driven other GMT900s- I'm going through the options on the truck I'd like to get and was curious to see if you guys think the NHT package creates a harsher ride than the Z71 suspension. I don't really need the 3.73 gears for towing/hauling, mainly just the benefit of more ponies getting to the ground. But I don't want to if the ride is real harsh unloaded, which is how this truck will spend 95% of it's time.

Thoughts?

My NHT truck rides just a little bumpy on uneven roads. But for the most part it rides like a truck....

My previous vehicle was a TBSS and I think the truck rides smoother for the most part.

It's a truck, what do you expect?

I think mines rides fairly smooth, for a truck, and i also have 20 inch rims that don't help the ride to much either.

I know it's a truck, thanks for pointing that out. I've driven other model GMT900s and my question was if the NHT bits made a significant difference.

My 08 CC NHT rides at least as harsh or more than my 99 2500 did. The culprit is the rear suspension. The backend bounces on the LA freeways. The freeways here have wave like shapes at very even spacing of about a truck length and a half. I can watch in the rearview mirror the top of the tailgate bouncing up a down like crazy. Putting a 200 lb topper and another 200 lb aluminum gun drawer box in it really helped, but it's still a bit harsh in the rear. Empty, it was brutal on those freeway waves at about 50-70 mph. After about 73 mph it starts to smooth out. The rear springs are higher load capacity on the NHT. I actually thought about buying some standard springs until I put the topper and gunbox in there.

Go with the Z71 and WEA appearance pkg. The painted front end looks much better IMO. Sorry had to throw this in here.

I believe it will be pretty hard to compare ride "harshness" as it is partly based on personal choice.

If I went with a Chevy it would have the Z71 appearance pkg, but at the moment I'm liking the style of the GMC more. We'll see. If everything finances wise goes as I am hoping I'll start the shopping game sometime next month.

if you like the chevy z71 appearance package, but like the gmc better, take a look at the new sierra "off road package" it gives you colour matched bumpers and a few extras that the "all terrain package" does not have

The ride in my Z71 appearance package truck w/ the Rancho shocks can get bumpy over rough roads, but it always stays planted and doesn't bounce around. I'd say its firm but controlled.

Sorry didn't mean to sound arrogant, I just think that since it is a truck, the difference between the Z71 and NHT are going to be so small that you won't notice. I think your opinion on how they ride comes from what you had before it. For example, my new silverado rides better then my 94 silverado, and im sure your legacy rides much better then both the Z71 and NHT packages. Just saying, but go with the lower gears with the NHT package!:thumbs:

I think that my nnbs z71 rides worse than my nbs z71. The new one seems to have a bounce to it and the bumps are a little rougher. Mine is also a vortex max but not the max trailer and z71 if that matters at all
