Tire Dressing - Powersheen

Just thought I would pass this along. Found this product on motorhead garage. Ordered a kit (took a few weeks to get which I wasnt all that happy with) cost was like $31 shipped. It is a 2 step process. 1. Clean the tire with the cleaner to remove any silicon from old products. 2. apply the powersheen dressing. They claim it will last 4 months. Well I applied it to 1 tire on my wife's tahoe. The first step is time consuming (cleaning) but supposedly you only have to do it again if you apply any other product to the tire. Took about 15-20 min for one tire to apply which includes dry time, I am sure after doing 1 it would get faster.

 

Here are some photos of before and after. One pro is after applying I took my hand and wiped it on the tire and there was no transfer. Today she drove through a rain storm and I must say it held up great, I did a wipe down and they werent that dirty. You can see what an untreated tire looks like. I have used DP, poorboys, and stoners tire products and afdter 1 rain storm it needs to be reapply with all of these products. All have their pros and cons, so far this stuff is my favorite.

How many treatments do you guess one kit will do? Looks like it might be a winner. Please keep us posted on how long it lasts.

I have no idea, For one tire I didnt use very much. The cleaner will definitely run out before the actual dressing will. I would say the cleaner will do at least 2 vehicles, product will probably do 4 if not more?

I would like to get something that is just a flat finish...just clean and condition the tire without the shine/goo that everything sticks to.

 

That one kinda looks pretty close to what I am looking for...but yeah 31 bones for tire dressing is kind of expensive.

I'm the same as you, tires shouldn't shine, imo. For that, I have had great luck with Eagle 1 all wheel/tire cleaner. Gotta be quick with it on your wheels though as it can stain if you leave it on for too long. The stain comes off easily with never-dull or any other light polish. No permenant damage.

I have used spray nine and armor-all in the past. Clean the tires real well, than spray them with Armor-all. Let it sit for a bit than rub it in/off.....LOL, I just said rub it off....LOL

 

It would give that little bit of conditioning, and protection to the tire but not shine. However it takes like 20 min per tire to do it....don't like spending the whole day cleaning my vehicle. Its OK in the summer here...once the rain stops its dry for 3 months or so....so every month or so I just give it a touch-up. In the spring and fall...it rains at least a few days a week...spending all day Saturday scrubbing and polishing, just so it looks good for Sunday than like shyte on Monday...not what I like spending Saturday doing. These are the seasons I use the drive through wash...or just the pressure washer and a bucket at home....just the quick clean, so its clean-ish.

Check out Mothers FX Rim and Tire cleaner, it is a foaming spray you you just coat the tires and rim and when you get done of all four tires it should be time to start hosing them off, the tires create a pretty gross brown color though from all of the dirt, then apply Mothers Reflections Tire Care, you apply it to all tires and then give it 5minutes and wipe them with the dry applicator again and gives a nice matte finish kinda like a brand new tire.

i would check out wesleys bleach white. its DIRT cheap, like 3.40 or something at walmart and it cleans the tires very well with no shine

That's the issue...I have tried at least 50 tire products over the years.

If you don't want the shine, but want clean I would suggest Greased Lightening. Cleans the tire very well...degreaser... and doesn't leave a shine. Takes off mud, curb rash, and whatever else you got on there. Just spray it on, let it sit for a second, scrub it down with a stiff tire brush, and wash it off. Leaves tires looking like new. Great for white letters too.

The thing that I love best, about the Eagle One all wheel/tire cleaner is, that if your white letters are not already hideous, it will keep them white all summer long. Mine are usually pretty nasty looking, after a winter of nothing more

than drive-thru car washes, so I will scrub them quick with Wesley's and then from there on out, just use the Eagle One stuff. No scrubbing, applying, whiping down of anything. Spray it on, by the time you get to the last tire, start hosing them off. Done.

 

Call me lazy but, that leaves me more time to lounge in my lawn chair, having an icy cold malt beverage, enjoying the day.
