This Is Why 16 Year Olds Deserve Beaters

So i was driving home, stopped at a light and a brand new duramax driven by a "redneck wanna be" kid...which i quickly realised had to be his daddy's truck because it was a contractor truck(whole works, decals, tool boxes, bed rack) and as soon as the light went green, that kid buried the pedal...did a burn out and left a nice cloud of soot behind...so i turn to follow him(we were going the same way) and about every 50 feet he would romp on it and blow soot...turbos sounding like nails on a chalk board...this is why i'm a firm believer that teenage kids deserve cars that have more rust then paint and barely any life left in the motor when it comes to vehicles..yes i know it isen't my truck who cares, but its the principle of the matter...i diden't come from a rich family and my parents diden't really have nice vehicles but when i did drive them i did not in anyway beat them...i don't know about the rest of you guys but i was raised to treat what you own like it was gold...damn spoiled kids

I agree with the fact that many kids are spoiled and treat their vehicles and toys like disposable objects. On the other hand I knew quite a few spoiled kids that kept their things as nice as the day they recieved them. I really how some see one person doing something and stereotype the masses.

I had a nice truck my parents bought me, I thought it was nice, when I was 16. That thing was always spotless, always maintained, and pretty much always driven like it was stolen. I beat on that thing hard but you would never know I did by looking at it. There was one difference that set my dad apart from most, the rule was you break it you pay to fix it. I learned some great lessons and responsibilities this way.

Reminds me of one day I happened to be leaving the GMC dealer when a wrecker towing a fairly new Yukon Denali was pulling into the lot. The Yukon was full of mud, grass, and appeared to have gone off road in the ditch (accident). I made a comment to the sales manager (good friend); looks like someone was in an accident? No he says, that so and so wife's SUV (local Budweiser Distr) and their sob son took it to a graduation party out on some remote beach over the weekend and decided he was going 4-wheeling. He was plowing thru some muddy areas when a tree branch pierced the radiator but that did not deter him. He continued on till it quit and it appeared he may just have ruined the engine because he drove it till it would not move anymore. The sales manager was discussing with the service manager that his parents were good customers and bought at least 1 new GMC every year and how can they get this fixed. I heard the SM say, well there is just no way I can warranty this one implying this was not the first time. They said he has a new Corvette and he is only about 20yo. Lots of $$ in beer it would seem.

brand new duramax ......left a nice cloud of soot behind.....and about every 50 feet he would romp on it and blow soot..

I thought with the brand new duramax's (new emission system) that they now longer blow out black soot? Must have not been brand new?

On a sidenote: Drove my friends cummins mega cab (I was DD) and I stomped it at a light, we had some guys in a exploder beside us at the light with thier windows down, yeah, totally filled their vehicle with soot.

Im thinking it had to me a little older (Not brand new), probably an 08 or 09, but it had to be chipped or programmed, thats the only time they generally throw "black" smoke. I have a buddy that is a diesel mechanic, his cummins motor has been built, HUGE turbo and so on. You barely tap his pedal and smoke is everywhere. It's always funny when he smothers people with their windows down, but if it were to ever happen to me I would be pissed! :)

Were any of you guys ever kids once? I can't blame him for having a little fun with a diesel truck so long as he didn't endanger anyone else
