Hearing a Clunk!

Recommended Posts

when I shift form reverse to drive I hear a pretty good "ckunk" from the transmission. The dealer says they all make that noise and gave me Document ID 2653927.

#99-04-20-002g: Information on driveline clunk.

2008 Chevy Tahoe ltz 60,500 miles.

Bought @ 52,000, and I'm sure the clunk was not there. Any tech's out there have any idea's? Any one eles have the same clunk?

thanks again!

i cant paste the document for reason,,,,, if u-joints are fine ,go find an 08 tahoe with similar milage and check it like the document says to confirm one way or the other,

My 2011 has 12,000 miles and has done it for a few months now. Told the same about it being no big deal. When my Jeep first did it, my driveshaft came apart shortly after!

my '08 did this every time. the '10 now just does it when its pretty cold

If it were a bad u joint you would have alot of vibration of the driveshaft when driving.

My 2012 Denali does not "clunk", and neither did my 2004 Tahoe (108k) when shifting from drive to reverse or vice versa.
