2010 Silverado tail lamp questions

Hello,

I am relatively new here and google isn’t helping :(

Here the situation: I ordered tail lamps for my truck.

http://www.ebay.ca/i...984.m1497.l2649

The problem I have is that the hole for the reverse light is for a 3047 blub (the bigger ones) and the reverse light in my truck is the 912 (the little ones). According to my research on the internet both blubs are 12 Volt DC.

Does anyone see or know of any issues if I cut the 3047 plug off the harness and wire it into the reverse light spot?

Or option two, I go buy a new harness from the dealer for 30 bucks and use the two 3047’s it comes with and leave the factory harness intact?

Would I get any warnings or problems with the computer if I were to cut the harness?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Drew

go to pepboys ot autozone or oreillys whichever and get the 3047 harnesses. they are cheap. i did a swap to 9005 on my low beams. pick up some heat shrinand butt splices too. cut off yout current 912 plug, strip off a little insulation, slide the heat shrink over the wire and out of the way, then crimp obe side of the splice to the wire. if the 3047 isnt stripped strip it and crimp the wires into the correct splices and crimp. then slide the heat shrink over the splices and use a lighter toshrink it and make it water tight.

After do more research, and talking to the dealer, I am going to order the replacement harness that has the correct sockets, or look at the local junk yard.

So the final on this is that I ordered the harness from the dealer. I also got a 3rd brake light replacement from Recon.
