Hello - Small Lift / New bumpers

Good afternoon everyone! I just thought I would say hello to everyone and ask a couple quick questions.

 

First is I want a small lift....... maybe a 6 inch but I am thinking more like a 4 inch or even just a leveling. I Have a 2012 Z71 extended cab with supercharger and thats about it. I don't want huge tires but a more aggresive stance. I wont hardly get it muddy except for the ocasional field. I have heard you have to cut the frame.... is that true and is it the same for 4 inch?

 

Also I want to ditch all the chrome on my truck. I don't want a huge crazy bumper but maybe something tougher or I might just go back to the dealer for painted ones / find someone to trade me their painted for my chrome.

Not sure about the lift portion, but check out www.dipyourcar.com. Pick up a can or two of Plasti-dip for about $5 a can, and spray it down. You can get the color youre looking for, or close enough to it, and it will peel off if you decide you dont like it. I know it's not as nice as painted, but you would be surprised at how much more of a conversation piece it is. BTW, i would save your warranties and put a leveling kit on. It looks good, takes about 50 minutes a wheel with two guys an no power tools, and if you have an issue, return it to stock and claim your warranty.

Not sure if there is a post limit or not? Would love to see under that hood though if you figure it out.

 

You can always start with a leveling kit. It's the cheapest to buy and if you don't like it, no big deal, it's easily removed without any perm. modifications to your truck.

Going with a 4"-6" lift right away, if you don't like that you are SOL and a lot more money spent. Many of the 4"-6" lift kits require cutting to properly install components such as relocation brackets.

 

The BDS kit is IMO the best you can buy for the money. Their 4" & 6" kit does require some cutting and welding in the area of the lower control arms to mount the front diff. relocation bracket. Pretty sure you have to have the rotor dust shield cut also, don't remember. You are also going to need to cut the tie rod ends.

 

Start off small. You can always go higher but if you start out high, you are kind of stuck there.

what charger is that, if you dont mind me asking how much did it set you back? any other mods tothe tranny or anything after you put it on?

ROUSH....... I work there and did my own kit with a custom tune. For a good kit you are looking in the neighborhood of 7k plus install if you don't wanna do it your self. We were going to do a kit back in 08 but it got kaboshed, there for there were all the important parts in just hanging out. Its an animal now! I am building a forged short block now, possibly stroker but not sure whaqt all stroker kits are out there for the 5.3.L. It will get some custom head work, cam, headers will be on real soon. I have the "heavy duty tow package" so I will just hope for the best! lol

 

Oh ya I just put the SLP cat back exhaust but that does nothing for power just sounds a little better but not quite loud enough for me ;)
