Finally connected the wire under the brake master cylinder to stud #1 under the fuse box on driver side and placed a 40amp fuse in slot #68. I bought a new enclosed trailer and with that work done, the inside lights now work off the 7pin connector. I think that was also necessary to charge the trailer's emergency brake break-away battery. Haven't confirmed that yet.

Took the truck on a road trip to a wedding in SD this weekend, around 800 miles total. Averaged around 16-19 MPGs driving around 70, just depended on which way the wind was going. Lots of open country on the west side of SD and south west side of ND.

Drove back to school... I've decided that the Maggy 22" I have on is the perfect "touring" muffler.

Kind of off topic but I am so glad that my truck does not have to pass inspection

your lucky.. but i also kind of like inspection because it really is unsafe to not have your vehicle inspected.

both sides make valid points. Yes it can be a pain to have a yearly(or 2 years+) inspection. Its mostly a money grab by the government. Flip side, I feel slightly better knowing every vehicle on the road has had at least a minor inspection and shouldnt fall apart on the highway killing myself and my family.

Drove my truck to the Jimmy Buffett concert at Jiffy Lube LIve near DC. Packed 6 people in my cab to go to the concert from where we were staying, and used the bed to set up the port-o-tent since they wouldn't let us put it in the parking lot. Truck averaged 15.6 mpg round trip (about 400 miles total), which is the best I've gotten since I bought it last year.

Inspections are pointless, I saw plenty of non roadworthy cars in NH even with their inspection. Never mind that any competent shop inspects any car that comes in, both for safety and to try and upsell work.

how do inspections and emission tests work? do you just have some guy come to your house?

It will vary some state to state but you go to a shop, be it a dealer or anything else. Emissions in NH was just an OBDII scan for codes and readiness monitors. Safety inspection goes over just about everything from suspension to lights and tires, etc. Some states still do a real emissions test with a probe in the exhaust. It's a complicated system, the guideline book is big. I don't miss having the truck inspected nor do I miss working in the dealership and fixing other people's junk either.
