Max life is the oil. Like the difference in castrol GTX and Edge. Max life is made for higher mileage engines. And i personally wouldn't go back and forth with synthetic

won't be going back and forth. Maxlife syn will just clean faster, if need to can go To Maxlife conventional And stay

Is it OK to go back n forth between synthetic and conventional if need be? And is valvoline max life an additive?

Going back and forth is no biggie.

Back in the early days of synthetic oil, it was a no no. In those days synthetic and dyno did not play nice together. Several people lost their shirts on engines figuring that one out. Like today, engines were not cheap, so word got around quick .. and that line of thinking still sticks 40 years later. Same as the "batteries on concrete kill them" myth - it was based on fact from days long since past.

batteries on concrete ? Haven't heard that one, please explain

As far as switching back and forth I would not, but to each his own. Just got paid so my truck will be getting an oil change. It's probably a thousand miles past due. She's sitting at 236k miles now !

Supposedly drains the battery, from what I've been told. I did it one time and didn't change anything

Seems to be more of a Northeastern thing, although it is spread around the country ... but WAAAAAAY back in the days of batteries with wood/tar cases, leaking / soaked-wood, electrolyte would in fact make contact with the ground (actually didn't matter whether it was concrete or not ... but since 95% of basements or garages are up here, the myth took off) and drain the battery.

With plastic cases it's nearly impossible, unless the thing is boiling over ... in which case you've got other problems to contend with. :D

Over the weekend took a 3,000 km round trip to pick up a 1939 Studebaker Commander my friend bought. Truck pulled it Easy! Could barely tell a difference towing the empty trailer vs loaded.

Here's some pics.

Thanks!! He actually also has a 1940 in his barn too that was his grandfather's but it needs a TON of work. This one needs really only interior, some wiring, lights etc...

Took it out to get a few supplies to hang some grab bars in our daughters bathroom. Of course while I was out it rained and so it is no longer nice and clean. :(
